Board Chairman. Mr. Briggs was honored at a Special Ceremony for 15 years of outstanding
service as a member, committeeman, committee chairman, directs, president, and board
chairman,...and Budget Committee Chairman for the past 5 years. Mr. and Mrs. Briggs will
be moving to Burnsville, North Carolina, their native home, at the end of this month. Mr.
Briggs indicated that he would perhaps become active in the Chamber of Commerce in the
Burnsville area.

side Improvement Contest of
the 1971 Western North Caro
lina Community Development
Program will be announced at
a luncheon meeting on Friday,
September 24 at 12 noon at
Bailey's Cafeteria, Westgate
Shopping Center, Asheville.
Fifty-nine organized rural
communities competed in the
special Roadside Contest this
year and 12 county winners
were judged in area competi
tion last week. White Oak
Creek represented Yancey
County in the judging.
