conference made us even proud
er to be Americans.
During the week we studied
about the regional resources
which were soil, water, air,
forestry, human and minerals.
Specialists from different states
gave programs on these re
sources.
This was not just a week of
work, but a week of fun also.
Each night we had recreation
from the Virginia Reel to the
Funkie Chicken. The best part
of the week was making new
Mends.
Friday was a very sad occa
sion. Everyone had to say
goodbye. But this was a week
we are not likely to forget.
We would like to thank
everyone who had a part in
making this trip possible for us,

4-H Delegate
By Sandra Norris
I was elected as a 4-H dele
gate to represent Yancey Cou
nty at the 4-H Citizenship Short
Course held in Washington, D.
C. August 8-14.
Besides this being an enjoy
able trip it was also very edu

day—through the last, we tour
ed Washington. From the
Washington Monument to the
Wax Museum, I don't think
we missed a thing.
The theme of the week was
"If you're not a part of the sol

problem." Many Mends I
made Til never forget. The
whole week itself, Isuppose,
will always be something to
remember.
