About Measles Campaign Answered ceived it already since 1969 without serious reactions. If your child has not had both measles shots, he should re ceive the one shot given at school because it will pro tect him against both kinds of measles. It will net hurt him to duplicate the shot he received previously. Only children who have proof of receiving both measles shots need not receive the new vaccine, (in any case* NEED WATER CALDWELL’S Well Drilling Co. fe Call-Collect J Asheville, N.C. 254-3581 | Hot Springs, N.C. 622-3484 J| Work Guaranteed this vaccine will not harm a child who has had both shots before.) If your child is allergic to eggs or to feathers, he should not get the vaccine, or if your child is under me dical care for an illness, consult your doctor about getting the shot. The vaccine is new in that it provides immuniza - tion against two diseases in a single shot. This combin ation vaccine provides a lasting protectioh against the two distinct viruses—the German or Black Measles (Rubella) and Red Measles (Rubeola). It hasnevffbeen administered in our schools before. Ycruis chi Id will probably not suffer iny reactions, but some mild fever and rash might occur 6-10 days after the injection. A few child ren might develop joint pains 4-8 we els after a slot has been given. This vill not last mare than 2-3 lays at most anc’ is nothing to worry about.
