Their graves remind us of the frailty of human life and the tenure by which we hold our own. "In such an hour as we think not, the final summons may come which no one disobeys." It seems fitting that we should leave our comrades to rest under the arching sky, as they did when they pitched their tent or laid down in days gone by, weary and footsore by the roadside, or on the field of battle. Wherever the body of a comrade lies there the ground is hallowed, our thoughts here are in solemn commem oration of all those men an expression of our tribute to their devotion to duty. To their coinage and patriotism, by their services on land, on sea and in the air they have made us their debtors for the flag of our nation still flies over a land of free people. Our beloved comrades are in the hands of our Heavenly Father, and "God giveth them beloved sleep, " they have been Isdd to rest, but let us cherish their virtues and leam to imitate them, reminded by the place they fill no more, that our ranks aoe thinning. Let each of us be loyal to every virtue, so true to every friendship, so faithful in the remaining marches, that we will be ready to fall out and take our place in the great review hereafter; not in doubt, but with faith that the merciful Captain of our Salvation will call to that fraternity which on earth and in heaven remains unbroken. Our Heavenly Father, In the depth of our silent rever ence we realize the truth of the inspired words, "I am the resurrection and the life; he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live", Help is to be faithful to Thee and to one another, look in mercy on the widows and children of our departed comrades we beseech thee, and with thine own tender ness console and comfort those who are bereaved. Bless our Country with freedom, peace and righteousness, we praise Thy great name forever and forever. —By Joseph Fred Beaver, Yancey County Veteran, Wcrld War H 4-H Club ( Meeting By Debbie Miller : The Pensacola 4-H Club • had its regular meeting in • the Pensacola Elementary ; School building on October : 20, 1971.
