She was the widow of Jam e* Duncan who died in 1930. Surviving are a daughter, Mb. Marjorie Buchanan and a son, Carroll Duncan, both of Route 3, Bakesville; four sisters, Mrs. Blanche Pittman and Mrs. Mabel Sparks,both of Spruce Pine and Mb. Daisy Greene and Mb. Nellie Ste vens, both of Marion; 14 grand children, 28 great-grandchild ren and two great-great-g*nd children. Funeral Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Bear Creek Baptist Church, of which she was a member. He had been seriously ill for two days. Mr. Cooper, a retired ru ral letter carrier, was bom ■ in Burke County June 15, 1890 son of the late John Henry and Emily Baker Cooper. He was a member of the N.C. Legis lator in the early 1920’5. He had served for 45 years as a member and chairman of the Drexel School Board. He was one of the founders and trus tees of Bethlehem United Methodist Church at Bridge MARCH 9. 1972 port. He had taught school in Burke, and McDowell Counties. Twice married, his first wife was the late Estelle Ber ry Cooper. His surviving wife is Ruby Bolden Hoover Cooper of Route 2, Valdese. During the course, he re ceived Guerrilla Training and lived under simulated Vietnam conditions for five days. Other specialized training included small unit tactics, map read ing, land mine warfare, com munications, and firing the M-16 rifle, M-60 machine gui and the 3.5-inch rocket launch. Pvt. Deyton entered the Army in September 1971 and completed basic training at Ft. Polk, La. He is a 1967 graduate of Cane River High Scliool and received his B.
