This may no longer be the case. If a homemaker is in her kitchen, with the ven tilating fan, dishwasher, garbage disposal or food blender all going at one time, she is exposed to as much noise as if she were in a subway station. East Yancey Students Give Program On Environment Tuesday morning, the East Yancey High School Drama Club presented an environmen tal program, "A Solution For Pollution, " to the student body and faculty members. The program was a joint effort by a number of concern ed students to make others aware of the seriousness of the present environmental situation, Diana Fagan introduced tIE program by reminding every one that purchasing non- re - tumable bottles and cans and supporting industry and busi ness interests that pollute, con tributes to the destruction of the environment. In other words, the philosophy tells what the institute should be doing. According to the pliilosoply, a Technical Institute is respon sible, in its area, far the fol - lowing: 1. To offer courses inAiult Basic Education (grades 1-8) and courses to help adults pre pare themselves for a high school diploma or the High School Equivalency Exam,call ed CED. 2. To offer technical pro grams of two years in length for which an Associate in Ap plied Science Degree is awar ded. 3. To offer vocational programs of one year in length for which a diploma is awar ded. 4. To offer vocational re lated courses in the evening programs usually for upgradfcg adults already employed. 5. The Drama Club expressed their appreciation to Burns - ville Mill of Mohasco for pro viding the school with two large barrels which will be placed on the campus as trash receptacles.
