QPRfI v ' ■ 1 Kelly and Chris are the children of Mr. and Mb. Dean Chrisawn and were Class I Grand Champions in tlie fourth annual Yancey Youth Jamboree. Having learned to Buck Dance from their grandfather, Emory Chrisawn, they will be performing in the Mountain Youth Jamboree for the first time this spring. Scout-O-Rama Set May 6 Saturday May 6th the Toe Valley District Boy Scouts and Cubs will sponsor a Scout-O - ■' Rama at Deyton Elementary * School. All the fun and excite ment will begin at 1:30 and close at 6:DO p. m. Scouts from Bakersville, Green Moun tain, Mars Hill, Spruce Pine, Burnsville, Red Hill, Elk Park, Banner Elk, Plumtree and Montezuma will take part in this spectacular. What is a Scout-O-Rama - It is an outdoor display <f scout exhibits and skills, you A may see scouts cooking, building fires, building bridges, setting up camp and much more. Number 5 VOTE for CHARLES GILLESPIE DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE Yancey County School Board DISTRICT 2 The Pinewood Derby is a race in which Cub Scouts have a chance to build a car to race and the winning Cub will take away a trophy as large as a cub. This trophy is donated by the Spruce Pine Jaycees. • The Spruce Pine Jaycees will also be present to serve the hungry with hot dogs and other refreshments during the afternoon of fun. Everyone in the three coun ties of Avery, Mitchell and Yancey are asked to come to the Scout-O-Rama and support the Boy Scouts. Be at Deyton Elementary Saturday, May 6, between 1:30 and 6:00 p. m. , after you vote, to see the future leaders and voters of our country hard at work. Admission is 50<t. Tickets are. available from Scouts or at the gate. GOP Precinct Meeting Set The Yancey County Repub lican Precinct Meeting will be held at 7:00 p. m. May 12 at the voting place at each pre cinct. The purpose of the meeting is to elect delegates to the Yancey County Conven tion. ! ~ | The Yancey County Repub lican Convention will be held at Btoo p. m. May 26 at the Yancey County Courthouse.
