He was a re tired Electrician, a native of BaKctt, Va. and had been re in Yancey County for the past 26 years. Sutvi/ing are the wife, Grace Young Wright; one son, ©braid Flem Wrightj four sis ters, Mrs. Mattie Stone, Mrs. hfary Alice Cox, Mrs. Joseph Turner and Mrs. William Eanes all' l Os Bassett, Va. j four bro thers, Robert and John Wright otf B&ssett, Va., Lemuell of Martinsville, Va. and Jimmy Wright of Gulf Breeze, Florida; orhe grandson also survives. Funeral services were held Starday at 2:30 p. m. in the Shoal Creek Baptist Church. Of ficiating were Revs. Lee Ayers, Alviri Jones, Lyda Ray and Erby 'McKinney. JANUARY 24, 1974 BLANCHE STYLES Mrs. Blanche Styles, 79, of the Possom Trot Community of Yancey County died Friday night in a Western North Caro lina Nursing Home after a long illness. S he was the widow of Floyd Styles who died in 1928. Sur viving are one daughter, Mrs. Lester Edwards; one son, Willard M. Styles; one sister, Mrs. Em ma Rice and one brother, Sam Doan, all of Route 3, Bums - ville; 8 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services were held at 2 p. m. Monday in Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. Revs. Harlon R.amsey and Harold Ray officiated and burial was in the Styles Cemetery. Cane River News Report Confederate Completed: Shortly before Christmas holi day, there was a great hustle and bustle, especially for the Cane River Confederate staff. The hustle was to get the an nual layout mailed. The bustle was trying to get the carbon copy layout completed by the 19th of December. Fortunately, the staff really got going and forged ahead with the result-- Success! As for the result of their efforts--well, they'll know in April. Right now? They're just enjoying the peace and quiet. ** Sign For County High School: The architect for the new coun ty high school has designed a sign indicating the site of the new school. Mr. Jack Buckner; Mr. Flay Hensley and the shop boys of Cane River High were given the job of constructing the sign. It has been comple ted and erected to indicate to everyone the exact location of land pure based for the new county high school. Glen Raven Announces Promotions Mr. Donald I. Burhoe,Vice President and General Manager of Glen Raven Mills, Inc. , has announced the reorganization of management and the promo tion of three men at its Burns ville Plant. As a result, these three men together with Mr. Burhoe who remains General Manager, will comprise a com mittee responsible for the oper ation of the Burnsville Filament Division. Mr. Ned Wilson is now re sponsible for the Weaving De partment, the Maintenance Shops, Research and Develop - ment and general purchasing. Mr. Wilson joined the company in 1948 and is married to the former Marjorie Riddle. They live at Pensacola, N.C., and have two children, Susan and Michael. Michael is also em ployed at Glen Raven. Mr. Gene Woody is respon sible for the Cloth Room and Preparation Departments aswell as Yarn Purchasing, Raw Ma terials Warehouse, Designing and Sales Liaison. He is mar ried to the former Jessie Wilson. They have three .children, Deb bie, Tammy and Timothy. They reside in Rocky Springs Heights at Burnsville. Mr. Woody has been with Glen Ra ven since 1952. Mr. Robert L. Rhine hart is responsible for Industrial Engin eering, Cost Accounting, Offioe; Personnel and Training. He is married to the former Matoka Wilson of Asheville and they live in Rocky Springs Heights, Burnsville. Mr. Rhinehartjoin ed Glen Raven in 1952. This reorganization came af ter Mr. Burhoe was assigned ad ditional duties on the corporate level of Glen Raven Mills, Inc. Mr. Charles Gibbs remains as Superintendent of Weaving, reporting to Mr. Wilson.
