RODNEY HUGHES 7£*Uted *}k TtttwUaye Miss Lila Allen and Rodney Hughes were married at 7 p.m. Friday, April 12, at Blue Rock Baptist Church with the Rev. Ronnie Geouge conducting the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel P. Allen of Newdale. The bridegroom is the son of Mrs. Francis Hughes of Micaville and the late Fonze Hughes. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a long gown of crepe satin with chiffon sleeves and satin cuffs. Mrs. Kenneth Allen, sister in-law of the bride, was matron of honor. She wore ai long dress of crepe polyester with flowers on it. She carried a bouquet of daisies. Bridesmaids were Miss Ka ren McMahan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alvis McMahan, and Miss Jane Allen, sister of the bride. They were dressed like the matron of honor. Flower girl was Tracy Allen, sister of the bride. Ricky J. Hilliard was best man. Ushers were Kenneth Briggs and Roger Buchanun. Who makes house calls anymore? "Why bother?" some people ask. Mrs. Hattie Young is a patient in Aston Park Hospital in Asheville due to a fall in her home. She received bruises and a pulled muscle. * Mr. and Mrs. Michael Allen stationed in Ft. Bragg, N.C. spent the weekend with her parents, Mr.and Mrs. A. A. Kampf. Mrs. Allen is the former Rosemary Kampf who was married two weeks ago in the First Baptist Church here. * Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Briggs spent the weekend in Wilming ton, N.C. and visited the 27th annual N.C. Azalea Festival. Dean’s list Cathy Deyton of Burnsville has been named to the winter quarter Dean’s List for scholas tic achievement at Berry Col lege, which adjoins Rome, Ga. Miss Deyton, a daughter of’ Mr. and Mrs. O.W. Deyton of Burnsville, is a sophomore at Berry majoring in home econo mics. She is a 1972 graduate of East Yancey High School.
