B BM Ron McKinney And John Reisinger During The Dialogue Five-Day Series Planned Church Holds Meetings The National Presbyterian Church of Estatoa is not standing still in spite of having lost their church building and property three months ago, says Rev. David Goodrum, pastor. The congregation, which is located in the Celo area, is presently meeting in an old store building on highway 80, just south of the South Toe School. They look forward to better things, as they have just purchased over six acres of land upon which to build a new church. This week the church an nounced plans for special services which will be of interest to many in Yancey County. The Rev. John Reisinger, ;ditor of the magazine “Sword And Trowel”, will preach nightly, Sunday August 18th through Thursday, August 22nd. Mr. Reisinger is a noted Baptist preacher who preches the Biblical doctrines which were characteristic of the great Reformation of the Sixteenth Century, to which all Protestant Christians owe so much, says Rev. Goodrum. The “Sword And Trowel” magazine was founded by Mr. Reisinger approximately fifteen years ago. Lectures On TM Scheduled According to a TM spokes man, Western North Carolina is quickly becoming aware of the all-encompassing benefits being brought to individuals and the community through the simple mental technique called Trans cendental Meditation which is the practical aspect of the Science of Creative Intelligence. Several members of the Spruce Pine community are currently practising TM and have ex pressed a desire to see more persons given the opportunity to learn this simple and effortless technique to gain deep rest and release stress and strain. Currently, 12,000 to 14,000 persons are beginning Trans cendental Meditation each month in the United States. From the growing mass of evidence, both personal and scientific, it is easy to see why these natural, visible and inevitable resuits of practising Transcendental Meditation must provide a sure and lasting basis and forward impetus for the elimination of all social and political problems as well as those of individual life, continue TM spokesmen. Transcendental Meditation entails sitting quietly for 20 minutes twice a day and following a natural procedure for quietening the mind so that the whole nervous system may gain profound rest. This rest dissolves deep-rooted stressed and strains in the nervous system, thereby harmonizing and refining the functioning of The Army Reserve can give you valuable training in, real leadership situations. 4 THE ARMY RESERVE. This summer their headquarters were moved to Clinton, Mississippi, in the Jackson area, and became part of a new organization, Multi- Communication Ministries, Inc. which presents evangelistic and doctrinal preaching by means of the press, TV, and the pulpit. Early in the summer Reis inger took part in discussion on a TV production dealing with the controversial and contem porary subject, Exorcism. Mul ti-Communication Ministries, Inc. has plans to make a number of television productions pre senting the great truths of God’s Word, the Bible. These will be distributed to interested sta tions around the country. Rev. Goodrum who is pastor of the National Presbyterian Church of Estatoa, had these comments about the coming of Reisinger to Yancey County: “I wish everyone in Yancey County could hear John Reis inger. One of the side benefits of living in Africa and traveling in many foreign countries, as 1 have done, is the opportunity of hearing many of the great preachers of our day. I consider John Reisinger to be one of the the body and mind and realizing great energy for effective action. In daily life, say TM enthusiasts, this means we can do more with less effort and without getting tired and anxious. We feel happier and more at ease in all circum stances. We are able to cope better, they say, and get along with people in a more positive and productive way. It is important to remember that Transcendental Meditation in no way involves or conflicts with one’s religious beliefs or philosophies according to prac tices. Mr. Reisinger’s preaching will be of benefit to all kinds of people, in various circumstances. The per son who has made no commit ment to Jesus Christ will discover how to become a child of God. The Christian will find great spiritual enrichment in how to grow in grace and in his (or her) relationship with God. I’d like to extend an invitation to everyone in the area. We welcome all who wish to take advantage of this rare opportu nity to hear one of God’s great servants in our day.” The meetings will start Sunday morning, August 18, where Reisinger will preach at 11:00 in the church’s temporary meeting place.
