Deyton, 81, of Green Mountain died Friday noon in an Erwin, Tenn. hospital after a 3-months illness. He was a native of Yancey County and a retired farmer. Surviving are the wife; Lucy Webb Deyton; two daughters, Mrs. Ernest Pe terson of Burnsville and Mrs. Holt Griffith of Tipton Hill, N.C.; two sons, Charles Deyton of Erwin. Tennessee and Frank Deyton of Burns ville; one half-sister, Mrs. Bessie Forbes of Winfield, Pennsylvania; one brother, R.P. Deyton of Fort Worth, Texas. Eight grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren also Sfirvive. Also surviving arc two stepsons, EapLQene Webb of Hickory and George Webb of Burnsville, N.C. Funeral services were held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in the South Bend Free Will Baptist Church of which he was a charter member and Sunday School Superintendent. Rev. Charlie Miller and Clayton Winters officiated and burial was in the Fairview Ceme tery. _ ALBERT WHITSON Albert Whitson, 55, of the Ramseytown Community died unexpectedly at his home Friday morning. He was an employee of Genette Lumber Company and a World War II veteran. Surviving are the wife, Opal Johnson Whitson; five daughters, Misses Donna, Freda and Darlene of the home and Betty of Denver, N.C. and Mrs. Roger Jones of Burnsville; one son, Gary Whitson of Huntersville, North Carolina); two sisters, Mrs. Clay Miller and Miss Esta Whitson of Burnsville Route 4; one brother, Dan Whitson of Burnsville Route 5. Two grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Miller Chapel FWB Church. [ LEROY PENLAND Leßoy Penland, 29, of Black Mountain died in an Asheville hospital early Sa turday morning from a gun shot wound. He was employ ed as a truck driver. Surviving in addition to the wife are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Penland of Swannanoa; three sisters, Mrs. Rome Blankenship of Pensacola, Mrs.- Clifford Me Peters of Concord, Miss Tammy Penland of Swanna noa; three brothers, Jack Penland Jr., Ronftie Penland and Joey Penland, all of Swannanoa; the paternal grandmother, Mrs. Bessie Penland of Burnsville; the maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mis. Roy Mathis of Burnsville. Funeral services were held —- Monday at 2:30 p.m. in theN/ Paint Gap Presbyterian > Church. Route 3, Burnsville died in a Burnsville hospital Thursday morning j after a short illness. the widow of Rev. W. Elzie Ray who died in 1972.
