Surviving are two daugh ters: Mrs. Floyd Bailey and Mrs. Robert Love of Erwin, two sons Tate Ramsey of Erwin and Johnny Ramsey of Rt. 4, Burnsville: one sister Mrs. Daisy Williams of Erwin: two brothers Charlie Miller of RT. 4, Burnsville * and Quillen Miller of Erwin, two half sisters and one half brothers. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Unicoi Springs Free Will Baptist Church. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery in Erwin ISAAC HOPSON Isaac Hopson 88 of Green Mountain died Saturday night at his home after a long illness. He was a native of Yancey County, a retired farmer, and the son of the late Rev. Garrett and Julia Step hens Hopson. Surviving are the wife, Lounette Bailey Hopson: three daughters Mrs. William Nathan Gortney and Mrs. Brown Gortney of Green Mtn. and Mrs. David D. Garland of Broadveck, Pa. Five sons Dempsey and Charles of Green Mountain, Earl of Bakersville, Lawrence of Bur nsville and Edward Hopson of South Gate, Michigan five sisters, Mrs. Mary Hughes of Roan Mountain, Tennessee Mrs. Charlie Bailey, Mrs. Handy Renfro, and Mrs. Bessie Wilcox of Johnson City, Tennessee and Mr. Gus Tipton of Green Mountain: three brothers Willie Hopson of Johnson City, Jake Hopson of Unicoi, Tenn. and Clifford Hopson of Green Mountain, 18 grandchildren and IS great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home, The Revs. Arceinus Stockton and Gilbert Adkins officated, burial was in the Anglin Cemetery at Jacks Creek. FRED BRYAN Fred Bryan 64 of Marion, died Monday morning in a Marion Hospital following a long illness. He was a native of Madison County, the son of the late Edgar and Zetta English and was a dairyman and farmer in Yancey County before moving to McDowell County in 1960 where he was engages in dairying and farming. ~ . ALTHEA ANGEL Mrs. Althea Anglin Angel 87 of Burnsville died Monday Afternoon at her home after a short illness. She was the widow of Robert V. Angel who died in 1958. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Robert Brown of Columbia, Md. two broth ers John and Rabe Anglin of Burnsville, eight grandchild ren, eight great gradnchildren and one great-great grand child. Funeral Services will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home. Rev. Rickey Pate will officate, burial will be in the Mclntosh Cemetery. Applications Needed All Little League applicat ions that wasn’t turned in March 29th 1975 , should be turned in to the principles of each school. This should be done no later than this week. J On Wednesday East Yan cey High School track team traveled to N.C.S.D. at Moreanton for a tri-track meet with Bowman High School and Hants High School. East Yancey placed well in the field events and almost completely dominated all running events. The final score was Bowman High 4 points, Harris High 23 points, and East Yancey High 110 points. { * On Friday, March 21, East Yancey High School's Track Team traveled to West Henderson High School for the Annual Fellowship of Christian Athletes Track meet. The meet included 17 Western North Carotins sch ools, some of which consisted of Asheville Schools, Pisgah, Tuscola, West Hendrson and many others. Events The South Toe Volunteer Fire Department has announ ced the following schedule for April: Saturday, April 5: Sale of baked goods, odds and ends, crafts and clothing of all sizes; at the South Toe School, fron 10 to 5. Monday, April 7: Roller Skating Party from 7:30 to 9:30 at the Riverside Rink. $2.00 per person, and again everyone welcome. Monday, April 21: Monthly Business meeting, 7:30 at the school. Drawing will be held for the 30-30 Marlin rifle which is being raffled off by the STVFD and may be seen at Byrle Ballew’s Store, Rt. 80, near the Carolina Hem locks. Tickets are SI.OO. This is also an important business meeting, as the final vote will be taken regarding the amendments to thp Rv-I awe East Yancey performed very well by placing high in several events. One outstand ing participant; Tim Parker. _ placed 3rd in the long jump by, jumping 20’ 6Y* ”, and finish- > ing sth in the 100 yd. dash' * with a ftme of 10.6. Tim also throws the shot put 39 feet, and runs the 220 yard dash in good time. For Tim’s outstand ing performance at West he was selected as the Track Man of the Week and is pictured in the article. Other members of EY Track Team did very well in various events. Not only did Tim Parker do well in the 100 yd. dash but Ronnie Wyatt, and Ricky Woody, both scored good enough times to get into the semi finals. Darryl Husk ins posted a good time in the 220. Jimmy Hughes placed very high in the Triple Jump by jumping 38 feet, and receiving a time of 58 seconds in the 440. Milton Higgins in • the 880 yard dash finished first in his heat with a time of 2:18.1. East Yancey’s 880 relay team also posted a good time of 1’;43.6. The 880 relay team consists of Jeff Harding, Jim PTA Basketball Game The South Toe School PTA is sponsoring a basket ball game on Saturday, April sth at 7:30 P.M. in the school gym. The men teachers and fathers will challenge the boys’ team, and the women teachers and mothers will play the girls’ team. Don’t miss these two exciting games!
