F=" Smith, King To Wed Mrs. Wilma Smith would like to announce the engage ment of her daughter Barbara June to Floyd Ricky King, son of Mr. Thurmon King. Both the bride-elect and prospective bridegroom are 1975 graduates of Cane River High School. Barbara is employed by Ben Franklin Variety Store in Burnsville. Ricky is working for P.M. Alexander Construction Com pany in Asheville. The couple will exchange vows on August 2nd, 1975 at 4:00 p.m. on Mt. Mitchell. All faculty members and student body of Cane River High School are cordially invited. Reception will be held-after the ceremony at the home of Mrs. Wilma Smith, Mitchell Branch Road, Burnsville. Many who survive accidents are left with serious injuries that make their lives far less enjoyable than they should be. A bad situation, you say? ' Yes! But one that we can ' change if we take a close look at our homes and correct those things that cause . accidents. We all know that our senses become less keen and our bodies less agile as we grow older. We also stay at home more. In fact, statistics tell us that 80 to 90 percent of the average retired person’s time is spent in the home. Therefore, it makes sense to adapt our home environment to our changing physical needs. Turn all pot handles toward the center of the range. -Remember to turn off all stove burners and portable appliances when you have finished with them. in the kitchen. -Do not work or cook in long flowing gowns or robes. -Place furniture and be certain that it will be easy to get around without bumping into things. -Furniture in hallways can be hazardous. -Furniture should have rounded corners and edges to prevent bumps and bruises. -Choose floor coverings I that are as skid-resistant as I possible. -Wall-to-wall carpet is safer than area rugs. Scatter rugs can scatter YOU. -Light switches should be within easy reach as you enter each room. -Avoid using extension cords. They can cause falls as well as fires. The bridal attendants wore flower garden print voile gowns with empire styling and puffed sleeves. They carried small nosegays of daisies and wore fresh daisies in their hair. Mr. Tom Campbell, uncle of the groom, of Rossville, Georgia, was best man. Ushers were Mr. James Campbell of Rossville. Ga., Mr. Chuck Campbell of Rossville, Ga., Mr.. Larry Adams of Ft. Oglethorpe, Ga., and Mr. Joseph E. Denney of Pickens, S.C. A reception was held in the fellowship hall following the ceremony. Mrs. Good is a senior at Berry College in Rome, Georgia and tfie groom is employed with Astec Indus tries of Chattanooga, Tennes see. The couple will live in Rossville. A bridesmaids’ luncheon was given by Mrs. Ed Hunter and Mrs. Amey Fox at the Hunter home on Friday. The groom’s parents entertained the wedding party and out-of town guests at a picnic following the rehearsal on July 4th. The bridal party and out-of-town guests attended a breakfast on Saturday morn ing at the home of Lydia Deyton, Aunt of the bride. Co-hostesses included Mr. and Mrs. C.P. Deyton and Mrs. R.G. Deyton of Raleigh and Mr. and Mrs. W.W. Brittain of Brevard.
