A basket lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m. and a Memorial Service will be held at the Honeycutt Cemetery at 2.30 p.m. Reverend Edith Morgan will be the speaker. The public is invited to attend. Most centers have the same problem. Scraps. Ma terials for quilts and crafts have become almost non existent. The value of the finished product depends on the condition of the articles you started with. Upper Higgins-Mrs. Mo zelle Webb and her mother, Mrs. Rosanne Wheeler met at the Higgins center and made two quilts. Mrs. Bernice Silvers had as her guests last weekend Mr. and Mrs. Theron Angel of Madison County and Mr. and Mrs. Nelse Higgins of Burnsville. Burnsville-Most of tfiese ladies missed Wamy Day because they were cooking for the Free Will Baptist Asso ciation. Blue Rock-These mem bers quilted one quilt and tacked one polyester quilt which was a Trip Around the - World. Georges Fork-Mrs. Ada Jones’ daughter, Mrs. Louise Edwards of Waynesville had surgery last week. Mrs. Jones is expecting her other daugh ter, Mrs. Erlene Baggett, from Florida this week. Charlie Brown Road-Mrs. Pearl Banks thought the recent fair presented a wide t variety of articles and that the exhibits were beautiful. Bowd!tch-This center has not met in a month. Mrs. Marie Thomas has been making cushions for which she already had orders. Mrs. Thomas has a new grand daughter, Kimberly Dawn, bom to Mrs. Brenda McCurry Lower Jacks Creek-These members basted twelve quilts and quilted eleven. But they don’t have a quilt on hand. All sold out and needing sup plies. Little Creek—An uphols tery class was started at Little Creek. This class meets on Tuesdays and Wednesdays of each week until this course is finished. Mr. Wayne Phillips of Mayland Technical Insti tute of Spruce Pine met with them to enroll the twelve members necessary for the class. Mrs. Altha Watts is the teacher. ' . ' . i / ■il Science Circus Visits Schools The musical glasses were s popular feature of the science Circus this year. Barbara Black, Science Circus assistant, Is shown playing them. Each year Bob Brown brings his nationally known education assembly program to the county schools. This year the program consists mainly of simple yet unusual experiments of a tricky nature-experiments the pupils may repeat for themselves at home or at school. The Science Circus has visited the elementary at Burnsville, Bee Log, Bald Creek, Micaville and South Toe, and Cane River High School. Among the students upon whom degrees were conferred were Grace Chandler Whitson and James Randall Mclntosh, both of Burnsville. Grace received a B.A. in Elementary Education and James also received a B.A. in Elementary Education.
