A Katrinia has been invited ftp to attend a Poetry Workshop Festival at Peace College in Raleigh along with Mrs. Davis. They left Cane River at 6:30 Friday, April 2, at 6:30 p.m. STUDENT WINS 2nd PLACE On Thursday night, March 25, Kafrinia was awarded second prize-, at Harris High School in an essay contest whose subject was “Independence and Ap YpWZ V- y r- z-ii ■ SJi'W V.™J £' 9» ■?* ~ ' ,‘vii t‘ contest was sponsored by the Toe River Arts Council. The prize was- .$25.00. Students from the Cane River Speech and Drama Club accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Thomas, went to see the play, “Appalachia Sounding.” FRESHMEN DEFEAT SENIORS On Friday, March 29, 1976 ? the Senior and Freshman girls met in an intramural contest. The Freshmen were ahead 29-21 at half time. They were led behind the scoring of Anna Silvers. Anna dropped in 24 points for the Freshman team. Connie Angel followed with 7. The final score was 54-35 in their favor. LIVE IN CONCERT • ' * On Friday, March 26, the Mountain Heritage Band, directed by Mrs. Lisa Maun ey, presented a concert for the j Cane River students and faculty. They played numer ous pieces including “Rhine stone Cowboy,” “Kaleido- ■; scope”, “The Morning Af ter”, and “Love Will Keep Us Together”.
