Wilson of Route 5, Burnsville, became the bride of Mr. George A. Powers, son of Reverend John E. Powers and the late Mrs. Ester Powers of Route 5, Burnsville, on Saturday, the 21st of August, 1976 at 2:00 p.m. The Rev. John E. Powers and H.G. McLeory conducted the Ceremony at Browns Creek Baptist Church in Celo. The bride wore a full length gown of bridal satin accented with Chantilly lace. Her veil of silk illusion, chapel length, was edged in match ing lace. She carried a bouquet of yellow roses, daisies, and baby’s breath. Miss Diane Robinson, matron of honor, wore a full length gown of blue and yellow polyester and a match ing picture hat. She carried a bouquet of daisies and yellow roses. Carter Foresters also of Sarasota. •* The Warner family left Dogwood Cottage to spend the weekend with friends in Atlanta before going on to Robertsdale, Ala. for a week then on home to Miami. •a The Busker and Burns families have departed for Ft. Lauderdale, also. •• Mrs. Ed Harrington and her daughters family, the Charles Capps of Coral Gables started caravaning home on Sunday. •a The traffic isn’t all one way-quite a number of visitors are also arriving. v ** The Keith Phillips Jr.s are in for a spell with Mrs. Grace Grassmuck at ‘‘Storybook Home”. •• J. Richard Jackson of Menands, N.Y., an old classmate of David Cathcart is in for a spell of reminiscing at the Cathcart cabin. •* Austin and Becky Holiday are in from Tallahassee for their annual visit. •• Betty and Robert Daven port have arrived after a busy summer in St. Petersburg entertaiing family. •* Mrs. Donald Gahager Jr. has arrived with son Craig from Peru. Miss Mary Lee Wilson, sister of the bride, attended the bride’s book. Mr. Johnny Powers, bro ther of the groom, was best man. Ushers were Doug < Walker, nephew of the groom and Barry Johnson, friend of the bride and groom. . Mrs. Margie Biggerstaff, sister of the groom, was the pianist. A reception was held following the ceremony at the church. Mrs. Marsha McKin ney and Ms Kim Westall served at the reception. The bride is a 1976 graduate of East Yancey High School. Garrons were late arriving this year since they had purchased a new home in Dade City, Florida this spring. Mrs. Garron also attended graduation and June week at the U.S. Military Academy where son Gene is a 1 P.E. Instructor. Later they toured the New England States. They did arrive in /) Cattail in time to entertain Mrs. Garrons sister, Mrs. W.M. They all J had quite an experience on their overnight hiking trip to Mt. Do come and enjoy the r evening with us. See you 5 c Concert Series Finale The Music in the Moun tains Chamber Concert series ended on August 15, with the annual benefit concert by Mme. Lili Kraus. The pro gram included a set of Mozart Variations, a Mozart Fanta sia, the Beethoven Waldstein Sonata, and two Schubert Impromptus. For an encore a Schubert Dance was played. The atmosphere was re lazed. Mme. Kraus started the concert by changing the program and laughing and joking with the audience. ! The recital was held in the i. B.M. Tomberlin Auditorium at Mountain Heritage High School. The air conditioned auditorium, which seats 760 people, has a large stage which is adequate for most types of performances. The acoustics were engineered by ' Boner Associates of Texas, and are considered to be nearly perfect. A reception followed the performance in the school lobby. Swingers Street Dance The Mt. Mitchell Swingers Western Square Dance Club will hold its annual Street Dance on Friday, August 27, from 8-11 p.m., at the parking lot of Banks Family Square Shopping Center. The event will also be the time for those interested in taking Western Square Dance classes to sign up for the new class which begins September 13, at the Burnsville Elemen tary School gym.
