A scoreboard and clock has been donated by the Northwestern Bank, to be used in the gymnasium. The unit was purchased at a cost of $1,065.00, and is expected to be installed soon. A rather unusual contribu tion has been made by Ellis Moody. Through the years Mr. Moody had collected a sample of all minerals mined throughout the state of North Carolina. This extremely val uable collection has been contributed to the school and will soon be displayed in the Science Department in a special showcase designed for *this purpose. This collection will be very beneficial to students, not only in Science classes, but to all those interested in geology in any way. James Padgett, architect for the project, has contribu ted two large potted plants for the Commons Area. An invaluable contribution of time is being made by Ms. Jewell Loyless. She has volunteered her assistance in setting up the new library and has worked daily since work began on August 11. Her assistance will enable the students to have full access to the library much earlier than they would have without her assistance. Steps for the amphithea- i ter, and lumber for other purposes has been contribu ted by Banco Lumber Com pany. A total of $5,174.00 has been donated for auditorium seats. Seats are expected to be installed during the month of September. Those who have not purchased a seat, but desire to do so should send a check to the Yancey County Board of Education. This can be done as a memorial gift, or the person’s name who makes the contri bution can be engraved on the seat. Cost of each seat is approximately SSO.
