Some of the planned activities are bake sales, car washes, skating parties, barn dances, and programs given by each grade level. COUGAR PLAYER OF THE WEEK Darryl Huskins has been named the Cougar Player of the Week for his outstanding performance against the Hen dersonville Bearcats last Fri day night, October 29. The Cougars were defeated by the score of 34-22. Huskins is previously ranked third in Western North Carolina in the area of passing yards per game. He stands to move up in the standings after Friday nights performance. The Cougar final game of the season will be at home against West Henderson next Friday night, November 5. BY COACH ERNIE HUGHES Hendersonville High led by Ralph Brooks beat Moun tain Heritage 34-22 last Friday night. Brooks ran for 148 yards and 3 touchdowns to lead the Bearcats. The Cougars were led by Darrell Griggs with 107 yards rushing and by Darryl Huskins with 175 yards passing. Pete Peterson and Jeff Harding were the leading receivers with 75 and 100 yards respectively. Leading the Cougar defense was Jerry Crain (9 tackles), Greg Bry ant, Pete Peterson, Jim Edwards, Jeff Harding, and Ron Sellers. The Cougars scored Ist but the Bearcats came back to lead 21-7 at halftime. The Bearcats scored early in the second half to take a 28-7 lead but the Cougars fought back to make the score 28-22. Hendersonville then scored again with just over 1 minute to play to seal the victory. The Cougars play West Henderson for the final game of the year Friday night at East Yancey School. ** JV’S LAST GAME The J.V.’s last game of the season came to an end last Thursday night. October 28, with a defeat to Rugby at West Henderson by the score of 44-6. The JV’s ended the season with a record of 0-6-1. Greg Fender, Mike Letter man, Pat Hardy, and Jimmy Gilley played a good ballgame in the 4th quarter. Jimmy Gilley was injured during the game.
