Celebrate 50th Anniversary v
The children of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Evans wish all friends and relatives to help them celebrate
the 50th Anniversary of their parents, December 19 at 2 p.m. in their home in the Jack’s Creek
Community.

Mr. and Mrs. Evans have seven children: Mrs. Virginia Jones, living in Fort Payne, Alabama;
Ted, living in Fort Ord, California; Ray, living in Charlotte, North Carolina; Mrs. Carlene Hall of
Spruce Pine; Samuel, of Burnsville; Jack, deceased; and Mrs. Angeltne Wilson of Johnson City,
Tennessee. There are 21 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. As a special guest to help
Mr. and Mrs. Evans celebrate, Mrs. Evans’ mother, Mrs. Callie McGee, will be present.

CHRISTMAS PUNCH
1 can red fruit punch
I s (12 oz) can orange juice
concentrate
1 (12 oz) can lemonade
concentrate
1 pkg. strawberry gelatin \
1 stick cinnamon
Sugar to taste
(_ Add water to orange juice
and lemonade concentrate
- according -to. instructions.
Dissolve gelatin in water
according to instructions. Mix
all ingredients together ex
cept cinnamon stick. Boil
cinnamon stick in small
amount of water, add to ~
punch. Repeat until there is
enough cinnamon flavor and
serve hot or cold.
HOLLY DROPS
Melt 30 large marshmallows
and 1 stick oleo margarine; l
Add 2 tsp. green food coloring
and 4 cups com flakes.
Drop by dabs on wax paper. ,
Decorate with red cinnamon,

3 cups sugar <’
2 egg whites <■
1 tsp. vanilla * *■
1 cup chopped nuts
'/« tsp. salt w :
3 /« cup water '
1 (3 oz) pkg. cherry or lime
jello 2
Vi cup flaked coconut
3 /« cup light com syrup
Butter sides of heavy 2
quart sauce pan. Add sugar,
corn syrup, water and salt.
Mix well. Cook until sugar 4
dissolves and mixture comes
to a boil. Cook to hard boil
stage (250) without stirring. '■>
Remove from heat. Beat egg •
whites until soft peaks form. *
Gradually beat in dry gelatin ■
until soft peaks form. Pour hot
syrup slowly over egg whites ’
beating constantly on high ’
speed until soft peaks form. 4
Add vanilla and stir in nuts. •
Drop by spoonfuls.
