Hopson of Route 2, Green Mountain, N.C. has been assigned to Lowry AFB, Crusade Breaks All Records In Asheville BY BECKY LUNSFORD Many of us in Yancey County were privileged to attend the Western North Carolina Billy Graham Cru sade last week. Mr. Graham said the crowds even ex ceeded his expectations as some evenings 11,000 to 12,000 people filled every available space in the auditor ium, breaking all attendance records in Asheville. Those who could not go or did not get in, can see the Crusades on television the week of June 6th, 1977. Johnny and June Cash thrilled everyone with their singing and testimony on Wednesday evening in the opening service. One of the highlights of the Crusade was the appearance of Bishop Festo Kivengere of Uganda. He told of the persecution of the church in Uganda and asked that Christians here pray for the, that they don’t become bitter but continue to love those that persecute them. Throughout the week Mr. Graham stressed being born again. He said that it is more than head belief. It is believing in your heart-that is trusting your whole being, (problems, failures, and everything) to Jesus and making Him Lord of all your life. Mr. Graham has a new book soon to be published on being bom again. Each evening hundreds of people responded to the simple _ Br Colorado, after completing Air Force sasic training. After praying with them, Mr. Graham said there were four things he wanted each of them to do. He told them to read and study the Bible every day, to talk to Cixl in prayer each day, to w itness by their new life and attitudes as well as telling others what had happened to them and then to fellowship with a local church. Even though the Crusade is over, the effects of it will continue in our communities. Be watching for the World Wide Pictures Film Festival, the Agajanian Brothers re turn, and other activities that will be following the Crusade itself. WATTS Ass’t Home Ec. Ext. Agent BY JOYCE A. WATTS Ass’t. Home Agent Among your most basic rights as a consumer is the right to information. You have the right to be protected against fraudulent, deceitful, or grossly misleading infor mation, advertising, labeling, or other practices, and to be given the facts to make informed choices in the marketplace. Your right to information is guaranteed by the passage of numerous federal and state laws requir ing the disclosure of informa tion or by regulations of agencies established by law. If you do not use the information available to you, you may cheat yourself and your family from the full use of money available to spend, or you may permit injury and other damage from unwise purchases. YOU MUST READ To use this information, you must read and use the information provided. Check all labels attached to items you are considering buying and look for facts. -What fabric is the garment made of? (Do you know how to care for that fabric?) The law requires a care label. So even if you don’t know how to care for a fabric the label tells you. -On food packages, you can decide how to get the most for your money by looking at the net weight of the product. (Do some simple arithmetic to figure out the cost per ounce, or per pound. The unit price may be on the shelf.) When yon compare packages of the same food, you save money by buying the size package or brand which has the lowest cost per unit, if other things are equal. -The label must tell you the form of the food. Why buy sliced pineapple if you want to cut it up for a salad or fruit cup? Foods processed in smaller pieces usually are less expensive. -How many servings are in the package? How big is one serving? Buy the size that fits your family, or larger if you can store it. -Contents of the package, as listed on the panel must show the ingredients in order of descending quantity. If sugar is the first item listed on a package of prepared food, could you save money by adding sugar to a similar unprepared food? -When you see a product advertised by price, do you look for the size container available at that price? Many products are available in more than one size. -When buying furniture, how does the label identify the wood or fabric in upholstery? Look for terms you understand that indicate the quality of the product. Would your care of a solid cherry table be different from the care of a simulated cherry grained vinyl surface?
