Mountain Heritage Students Report J.V. Cheerleading tryouts vill be held on Thursday, Vpril 7. There will be seven udges. Six will be teachers uid the seventh will be Miss va N. Buckner. They will udge the girls in seven iifferent areas and each girl Arill be scored on a scale from vl to 10. The sponsor will give the girl points on 3 different areas and four of her classroom teachers will give her points in 5 areas. The girls then dis cussed participating in a program for the American Legion meeting in April. Plans were made for it. Mitchell State Park said, “I can answer that question, the State is not willing to give one inch to anybody. My bosses in Raleigh are fighting it, but they have more or less been avoided.” Willis said that future meetings will be held to keep the public informed about the Park Study and the activities of the newly formed com mittee. Starmount High School in Yadkin County was the site of die 23rd State FFA Land Judging Meet on April 2, 1977. With some 45 teams competing for honors and eligibility to enter the National Land Judging Meet to be held in Oklahoma City, the Mountain Heritage team won the District Contest and placed fourth in state judging to become eligible for the National event. Team members included David Gibbs, Scotty Hicks, Wade Biddix, and Frankie Gouge.
