Mountain Heritage High
School held its first Junior-
Senior Prom April 9 at the
Hilton Inn in Asheville.
Approximately 300 students
and guests attended the
affair. The guests started
arriving around 7:00 to have
pictures taken. The band Rize
started playing at 7:30 and
played till 11:30. Refresh
ments were served during the
evening.

BETA CONVENTION
Thirty-four members of
the Mountain Heritage Beta
Club attended the 39th
Annual State Beta Gub
Convention in Asheville on
April 15-16. Janice Bigger
staff who won District 8
Secretary, ran for State
Secretary. It was a close race,
with Sylvia Phillip from
Harrell’s Christian Academy
winning within five votes.
MH Beta Gub stayed at
the Inn on the Plaza. They left
Friday morning around 9:30
and returned Sunday at 10
in the morning.
Miss Gwen Harris and
Mrs. Mary Swann, who are
sponsors of the Gub, served
as chaperones. Much time
and effort was spent by both
to make the trip possible.

CHEERLEADERS
The following girls were
chosen on Thursday, April 7,
as the J.V. Cheerleaders for
the 77-78 school year: Cynthia
Whitson, Sonya Riddle, Sher
ri Phillips, Patty Silvers,

Beth Peterson, Donna Bod
ford, and Julia Canipe.
They were chosen by
seven judges. The girls were
judged in seven areas and
given points from 1 to 10 in
each area.

DR. McCALL VISITS
Dr. Forrest McCall and his
staff visited Mrs. Shaw’s
Health Occupation I class on
Wednesday; April 6. Dr.
McCall, who recently opened
a dental office in Burnsville,
and his staff explained the
importance of taking care of
the teeth and gums as well as
the use of various dental
instruments.
Dr. McCall’s staff is
composed of Linda Rainain
dental hygienist, Debbie Bu
chanan-dental assistant, and
Van Thomas-secretary.
Stephanie Allen, a H.O.
II student who plans to go into
dental assistant training after
graduation, is presently ob
serving and helping in Dr.
