He was unable to slow to an appropri ate speed upon approaching a curve, lost control of the truck, struck a high embank ment and came to rest off the rig|it side of the road. Penland was taken to Yancey Hospital. Damage was estimated at S7OO. Penland was charged with too fast for conditions*, trooper C.D. Thomas investigated. An accident oh Monday, May 23 ai 10:30 p.m. occurred 7 'A miles north on US J9W. Delois Hall, 22, of Route 6, Burnsville was driving a 1976 Dodge south on US 19W and entered a carve,.Operator lost control dpe the slick roadway. The vehicle struck the bank on the southbound side of the toad, ran through a ditchline and then back onto the portion. There were no passengers and no injuries. Troopct C.D. Thomas investigated. •A two-car accident on Thursday, May 26, at 10:30 a.m. occurred 5 miles south of Burnsville on 19E. Nancy Templeton, 29, of Boone was driving a 1973 Audi south on US 19E. She came m behind Charles Buchanan, 68, of Sprudfe Pine, who was driving a 1968 Pontiac. \ Buchanan slowed up to make a left turn. Vehicle 1 could not get stopped in time and collided with Vehicle 2. Vehicle 2’s rear turn signal and brake lights did not work. There were no passengers and no injtmes in either vehicle. Damage was estima ted at S4OO to the 1973 Audi and $l5O to the Pontiac. Nancy Templeton was charge with following too close. MRS. MARSHALL CLARK Mrs. Pansy Jarrett Clark, 60, of Savannah, Ga., died Wednesday, May 25, follow ing an extended illness. Bom in Pensacola, N.C., she was the daughter of Nora Sparks Jarrett and the late William Dexter Jarrett. A registered nurse, she was a graduate of Memorial Mission Hospital in Asheville, N.C. and had been active in her professjeh for over 30 years. / Surviving are the hus band, Mdrchall Clark U; one son, Marshall Clark 111 of Savannah; two daughters, Mrs. Richard of Stuart, Florida and Lisa Clark of Savannah;' two sisters, Mrs. Tom Mclntosh and Mrs. Ray Hylemon of Burnsville, N.C.; four brothers. Homer Jarrett- and Lee Jarrett of Burnsville, Robert Jarrett of Carson City, Calif., L.B. Jarrett of Detroit,* Michigan; and one grandson. Memorial Services were held 4:30 p.m. Sunday in Pensacola. The Rev. Kenneth Mashburn officiated.
