Tax School To Begin Fats Course
j Here it is the first of
{September already. It’s hard
sto believe but summer is
about gone and that means,
for the prudent, it is time to
prepare—prepare for the fall,
the winter and the new year,
it is closer than you think.

ber that the end of the year
.closes their books, personal
and business, of income and
outgo for 1977 and that an
accounting will be demanded
of them. In other words tax
time isn’t too far away to be
prepared for now.
' About now, you may have
noticed in the newspapers,
,H & R Block is preparing for
the new year by inaugurating
their fall tax school. Their
basic course is comprehensive
and is designed for any and all
persons who wish to prepare
both federal and state taxes
fpr themselves and perhaps

tax preparers regardless of
length of service. It is
important because a tax
preparer must be familiar not
only with the basic 1040 and
1040A but also with all the
Schedules A through G, R &
RP, and SE and with the
various numbered Forms
which constitute statements,
additional information or con
firmation of the material as it
appears.
As you may have guessed
it takes time and effort to
learn or at least become
familiar with this material. In
addition it requires experi
ence which the course under
takes to give to a limited
degree by examples and
exercises which the student
prepares illustrative of the
particular area being studied,
in short a graduate of the
course has acquired some
competence in the tax field.
For the second year the
basic course in tax prepara
tion will be offered in the
Burnsville/Spruce Pine areas.
Although all the details have
not yet been ironed out such
as the most convenient time
and place, it is known that the
course will require two
sessions a week of three hours
each over a period of
approximately ten weeks.
Tentatively morning hours on
selected week days are most
likely.

College level and has had
extensive experience in busi
ness and government. For tax
work she has been associated
with H&R Block since 1970
in the capacity of tax
preparer, manager and teach
er. With this experience the;
prospective student is assured
of tax competence to the limit
of the course material provi
ded he puts in the necessary
effort in preparation and
class.
