With Murchison Store in the lead 8-6 in the 6th inning, Mt. Mitchell Ind.’s Joe Kruk led off with a double; tournament outstanding play er Jimmy McMahan singled to drive in a run and slugging catcher Ed Chereshkoff hit a home run to nail down the win. Mt. Mitchell Ind. also defeated Murchison Store by the same 9-8 score in the second game of the night to decide the regular season championship. Carroll Fender scored the winning run in the 7th inning, breaking an 8-all tie; for Mt. Mitchell Ind. Ed Chereshkoff had another big game at the plate, going 4 for 4 including 2 home runs and driving in 3 runs. After the game trophies were presented as follows: Regular Season Champions- Mt. Mitchell Industries; Re gular Season Runners-up- Murchison Store; Tournament Champions-Mt. Mitchell In dustries; Tournament Run ners-up-Murchison Store. A Sportsmanship Trophy went to the Jaycees.
