All that is necessary is an interest in seeing that art and craft programs in the area get the support they need.” . v T.R.A.C. provides and coor dinates a variety of art related programs and projects in Mitchell and Yancey coun ties. During the past year “many people have benefited from T.R.A.C. assisted events and Band Boosters Club Meeting The Mountain Heritage Band Booster Club will hare their regular meetiig Tuesday, February 13, at 7:10 p.m. in the Band Room at be ‘ school. Everyone is welcome. projects, even if they haven’t realized it” Ms. Wiseman claims. T.R.A.C. sponsored 320 hourff of crafts and arts demonstrations in Mitchell and Yancey schools. After school and during the summer the Council sponsored classes in painting, drawing, drama and other art forms. Adult classes and film series for children and adults were also important T.R.A.C. programs. A variety of special events and programs and per formances of drama, dance, poetry, and music were spon sored or supported by T.R.A.C. throughout the year. All T.R.A.C. members receive a monthly newsletter, “The TRAC Record”, which publicizes special arts and crafts events and promotes the activities of arts and crafts groups from throughout the area. Members receive discounts on the admission fees at all T.R.A.C.-sponsored events. “We’ve sent out about a thousand brochures describing T.R.A.C. which urge people to join,” Ms. Wiseman says, “but you do not need to get an invitation. We’d really like everybody just to join. You can pick up a form at a library or lots of other places. We want to make it easy because we want lots of people to become T.R.A.C. members.” Family memberships are $9.00 per year. Individuals may join for $5.00. Friend, sponsor, patron, and cor porate memberships are also available. Additional infor mation may be obtained from T.R.A.C., P.O. Box 521, Spruce Pine, N.C. 28777.
