Children Attend
Story Hour *
Andrews ? Twenty seven
children, preschool and first
graders, attended Story Hour
on Wednesday afternoon at
2:30 p.m. at the Andrews
Carnegie Library. Many help
ful mothers were also on hand
to assist Mrs. R. A. Dewar
and Mrs. Marion Ennis who are
in charge.

on March 14 and every other
Wednesday following, begin

Mrs. Gladys Crisp announces the engagement of her daughter,
Janice, to Mr. James Howard McCombs, son of Mrs. Frank
Ferguson and the late James A. McCombs.
The bride elect is a graduate of Murphy High School and is
presently employed with the U.S. ForestService. Mr. McCombs
is a graduate of Murphy High School, Western Carolina
College and is employed with Murphy City School System.
An April wedding is planned.
Mrs. Ledford
Honored At
Household Shower
Hsyesvllle ? Mrs. Jackie
Ledford was honored with a
household shower at the home
of Mrs. Guy Ledford, Satur
day afternoon. Mrs. Todd
Phillips and Mrs. Edgar
Moore were co-hostess for
the occasion. A yellow and
white scheme was used. The
table was overlaid with a white
chrocheted lace table cloth,
centered with Jonquils and tall
white candles were used. Re
freshments of cup calces,
cokes and coffee were served
to the seventy - five guests
attending.
Mr. and Mrs. Ledfords
home was destroyed by fire.
There was a short In the
electric stove and when the
little daughter touched the
stove her hand stuck to the
stove. Mrs. Ledford was
unable to pull her loose, since
she stuck to the child. Mr.
Ledford jerked his wife and
daughter loose and his hands
were burned. The family went
immediately for the doctor and
after an electrician. When they
reached their home the entire
house was aflame. None of the
contents were saved. Mr. and
Mrs. Ledford are now residing
In the home of Mr. and Mrs.
C. E. Fraley that they have
rented for the present time.
