The North Carolina General Assembly passed a new act at the 1959 Session providing for ths systematic revaluation of property for ad-valorem tax purposes andClayCounty was placed in Division #2 with a group of six other Counties In which It was mandatory that all real property be revalued for Clay Cointy in the year 1962. The Board of County Commissioners complied with the law and carried out the revaluation as required which has been recently completed. The last revaluation of real property In Clay County was made In the year 1947. The total of the new real and personal property valu ations furnished by the Board by the Cointy Accountant now gives Clay County a real and personal property valuation of $7,402,382.00 and this with the Board adopting a Con servative budget for 1962 en abled the Board m reduce the tax rate from $2.00 to $1.30. The Board desires to ex press Its appreciation to the taxpayers and property owners In Clay County for their co-operation In carrying out the law In revaluing all real estate for the year 1962.
