Celebrate 50th Aieiversary ANDREWS - Mr. and Mrs. Sam Beat celebrated their SOth wedding anniversary at open house Sunday from 2 to 5 pjn. In their home. Mr. and Mrs. Best were married J anuary 5, 1910 in Graham County, moving to Andrews later to make their home. They have six child ren. Mrs. Isaac Brooks of Dills bo ro. Mrs. R. W. Roper of Marietta. Mrs. Lucille Holland of Columbia, Ohio, Ralph Best, Mrs. Wayne Ladd, and Betty Sue Best who are all of Andrews. There are thirteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. C., Is serving aboard the destroyer USS Rowan, part of the combined First Fleet force Involved In Exercise Night Stick off the coast of California. The exercise In anti-sub marine and anti-air warfare techniques began Dec. 10, and lasted five days. Eighteen ships and several aircraft units were lnvloved in Exercise Night Stick, which was coordinated by Vice Ad miral R. T. S. Keith, Com mander First Fleet. The ships Included aircraft carriers, a heavy cruiser, a nuclear sub marine, 11 destroyers, a minesweeper and three aux iliary ships. The exercise was aimed at maintaning the overall readi ness of the units Involved and to develop their prepardness for duty In the Western Pacific with the Seventh Fleet. The operation centered around a fast carrier striking force supported by an anti-submar ine warfare group. They were opposed by aircraft and sub marines.
