Twenty-six seniors with their sponsors and chape rones, left Hayesvllle on April 20 for Washington, D. C., and New York City. After having breakfast on Sunday morning in Richmond, Va., the grotg) toured Mt. Vernon, and then visited the Arling ton National Cemetery, where they witnessed the change of Guards at the tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Among other places of interest were Lee's Mansion, Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, The White House, the National Gallery of Art, the Washington Cathedral, and a visit to Congress while it was in session. An exciting evening of fin was the Moonlight Cruise down the Potomac River, and an hour at the Marshall Hall Amusement Park. On the fifth day, tfaegroigileftWashlngton, via the Baltimore, New Jersey Turnpike to New York, where they boarded a sight seeing boat for a cruise around the "Island of Manhattan." That night, they visited Radio City Music Hall where they saw the world famous "Rockettes." In New York, a trained guide went with the groig) through Chinatown, the Bowery, the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, the United Nations Building, and many other points of interest. Some free time was given for shopping, a trip to Coney Is land, a ball game. The cost of the trip was $66.30 per person, in addition to their meals. Each student received forty dollars from the class treasury, and many had earned the rest of their money by working on individual projects sponsored by the class.
