Santa Arrives Fridav
In Christmas Parade
ANDREWS * The Christmas
parade, an annual event, is
scheduled for Friday alter -
noon, beginning at 4 p.m.
Santa will arrive on the
acene loaded with candy and
accompany the parade, which
Will begin near the Pure Oil
Station proceeding through
Main Street to the east end
of town.
Sharing the spotlight with
Sanu will be floats. School
Band, Homecoming Queen,
marching units, horses and
several automobiles, be
decked with typical red and
green holiday colors.
John Boring is the general
chairman of the Christmas
Parade committee. Other
members include Lee Nich
ols, Churches: C. O. Frazier,
Bands and Music; Joe El -
Khouri, Girl Scouts and Boy
Scouts; W. D. Whitaker, Busi
ness and Industry; Grady Gar

parade to be one of the best

Thomasson, Sr., born Dec.
11, 1870, will celebrate his
93rd birthday on Wednesday.
The lively, active merchant,
perhaps the oldest merchant
in Cherokee County, has a
small grocery store connected
with his home. He has a hobby
of growing Boxwoods, and in
spare time writes poetry.
Mr. Thomasson was born
in Swain County. He spent
his boyhood there working as a
clerk in a store and as as
Presbyterian
Women To Help
Kentucky School
ANDREWS - The women
of the Presbyterian Church
met on Monday evening, Nov.
25, at the home of Mrs. L. B.
Nichols. The devotional was
given by Mrs. Fred Liles.
Mrs. Joe Sursavage gave the
Bible Study. Rev. Edward
Whitson and Mrs. John Slagle
presented a program on the
Unity of the Church.
The group voted to send
clothing to an isolated school
in Kentucky. An offering was
taken for the Church Orphan
age.
Mrs. Edwin Bristol, presi
dent, presided.
The meeting was closed with
prayer by Mrs. L. B. Nichols,
Jr.

tended Board School in Bry
son City and upon completion
of this training, taught school
for 17 years in Swain and
Cherokee Counties. He at
tended Young Harris College
in the 1890' s.
In 1892 he moved to Chero
kee County where he met Miss
Exie Ann Johnson whom he
married on March 22, 1896.
They lived in Murphy and
Peach tree and later moved to
Andrews where he has com
pleted 58 years in his present
business.

as son of Kelly, N. C., Mrs.
Cora Lunsford, Mrs. C. W.
Lunsford, Mrs. Bert Gregory,
all of Andrews, and T. J.
Thomasson, Jr., of Clinton,
Tenn.. sixteen grandchildren,
13 great-grandchildren, and

p.m. Friday in Rose Mortuary
Chapel in Knoxvllle. Burial
was in Greenwood Cemetery.
