C.A. Berth Celebrates 82nd Birthday HAYESVILLE - C.A. Burch of Hayesvllle was honored with a family dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Burch Sunday. He was 82 November 87. Those present for the dln ,'ner were Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Burch, Mr. and Mrs. Neal Kitchens, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Waldroup, Anthony and Joe, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Street, the honoree and Mrs. Burch, Merle Brown, Pamela Burch, ell of Hayesvllle, and Mrs. Leon Gannt of Memphis, Tenn. Mr. Burch la still very active. He enjoys fishing in Lake Change and is accus tomed to going out in a boat fishing by himself. He con tinues to squirrel hum with his grandson, Joe Waldroup, and enjoys hunting other small game. He makes a garden and potato patches and keeps cows to milk. Christmas Decoration Contest Set For Clay J HAYESVILLE - A Christ mas Home Decoration Contest is being held in Clay County this year, sponsored by the businessmen of Hayes ville. Every family in Clay County is eligible to participate by preparing outside home deco rations with a Christmas theme. Prizes will be given in two different groupings. The first prize in each group will be fifteen dollars; second, ten dollars; and the third, five dollars. Group one will be judged first on the afternoon of Dec ember 23. This will be homes whose decorative effect does not require lighting and can be seen well in the daytime. Group two will be judged After dark on the same day. This includes homes with spe cial lighting effects. Familites wishing their homes judged should sign up ?t the County Agricultural Of fice In Hayes ville by Satur day noon, December 21. It is expected that all de corations entered In the con test be completed that week end and reoi?.in in place until at least December 26. Those who would like to get some ideas for decoration are Invited to come to the County Agricultural Office on Monday evening, December 9, at 7:30 p.m. A series of color ful slides showing a variety of decorative schemes, emp hasizing the use of lights, will be shown. Ar rangements of fall flowers and cornucopias filled with minature fruits and vege tables in keeping with the Harvest season completed the decorations. The Rev. Clyde Faulkner returned thanks. Miss Freida Dean Morgan led the group in singing, following the dinner. A menu of baked turkey, dressing and gravy, bakedhen, candied yams, green beans, hot rolls, a variety of salads, relishes, slaw, tea, coffee and a variety of home baked pies and cakes were served. Young Harris Beauty Contest December 6 YOUNG HARRIS - The an nual "Miss Enotah" beauty contest will be held Friday, Dec. 6, at 8:00 p.m. in the Susan B. Harris Chapel at Young Harris College. Twenty-five lovely con testants will compete for the top beauty award on the cam pus. Miss Ellen McElveen of Atlanta, last year's Miss Eno tah, will crown the 1963 winner. The public is invited to at tend. Admission is 36 cents. Riverside HD Club Holds Nov. Meet With Mrs. Alexander HAYESVILLE - The River side Home Demonstration Club held die November meet ing in the home of Mrs. Mar vin Alexander. Mrs. Wiley McGlamery, President, pre sided. Mrs. John Smart gave the devotional "Has God For gotten Us Or Have We For gotten God?" Mrs. Mae Hollifield, secre tary, gave a report. Mrs. Olen Myers gave the demonstration in absence of Mrs. Rozier, Clay County Extension Agent. Her demonstration was very interesting since she used samples of different kinds of wall paneling and samples of different woods used for floors. She also demonstrated the method to use in matching wall paper. The annual Christmas party will beheld at the home of Mrs. Sam Rozier. Mrs. Alexander served candy to the seven members who attended the meeting. Michael Woody Is Honored At Party HAYESVILLE - Michael Woody, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Woody, was honored with a party at his home on his 3rd birthday, Nov. 9. Michael has had surgery several times but is a very happy healthy boy. He received gifts, anden joyed his party. The children received bal lons as favors and were serv ed birthday cake, candy, and punch. Mrs. Dills Honored At Going-Away Party At Curtis Home HAYESVILLE - Mrs. Roger Curtis, Mrs. Ray Rogers, and Miss Phyllis Barnard honored Mrs. Bernell Dills with a going away part at the Curtis home last week.
