Tuesday night, Nov. 96, In an
Atlanta hospital alter an ill
ness o f four months.
He was a native of Zwolle,
La., a member of Zwolle
Lodge, 302, AF * AM and of
First Baptist Church of Shre
veport, La. He moved to Mur
phy fifteen years ago as plant
superintendent of the lumber
company.
Surviving are the widow,
Mrs. G. Mobley Fur r; a daugh
ter, Mrs. Sylvia Waggoner of
Murphy; a son, IX N. Furr, Jr.,
of Atlanta; the mother, Mrs.
Annie Mae Laurent Furr of
Orlando, Fla.; three brothers,
Paul of Alice, Texas, Fay of
Phoenix, Art*., and EdwardJ.
of Orlando, Fla., and five
grandchildren.

p.m. Friday in Murphy First
Baptist Church.

Pvt. Gibson Begins
6 Month Training
FORT JACKSON, S. C. -
Private Kenneth R. Gibson,
21, son of Mr. and Mrs. Claude
R. Gibson of Warne, has begun
his Basic Combat Training at
Fort Jackson, S. C., where he
has been assigned to Company
D, 18 Battalion, 5 Training
Regiment of the U. S. Army
Training Center, Infantry.
This is the first phase of
his six months active duty
training with the Army and a
part of the obligation he in
curred upon enlisting in the
Army Reserve. His reserve
unit is: 81st MP Co., Atlanta,
Georgia.
Basic training is climaxed
by a graduation review before
the commanding general of
Fort Jackson. Outstanding
performances are recognized
in a ceremony open to parents
and invited guests.
