Three Groups Win Ribbons The Home Economic De partment of Murphy High School won a blue ribbon for their exhibit during National Education Week, November 10-16. The prize winning ex hibit, which featured clothes made by the Home Ec. girls, was displayed in the window of Candler's Department Store. Four of the six arti cles of clothing displayed were made by ninth-grade girls. Judy Quinn, Naomi Sprung, and Brenda Nix had blouses in the window. Complimenting the skill of the girls were a shift made by Carolyn Mc Gaha, a skirt made by Nada Stiles, and a suede suit by Carla Beth Stiles. Second place, a red ribbon was awarded to Miss Travis' art class for their display of charcoal sketches In Ivie Furniture Store. Students whose art work was In the exhibit were Jimmy Sherrlll, a figure study and landscape; Wanda Mlngus and Adlnah Brown, figure studies; Dan Lovlngood, Danny Sneed, Lor etta Brlckey, Dean Haigler, scapes. The Rev. Clark W. Benson conducted the double-ring ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Allen Dav idson, the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Neil Davidson and the late Mr. and Mrs. John W. Axley of Murphy. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis H. Mulkey of Murphy. Given in marriage by her father, the bride was attired in a white satin peau de soie and alencon lace gown, with empire basque effect, long sleeves pointed over the hands, a sabrina neckline with accents of alencon lace and seed pearls, a full length skirt flowing toward the back in a hint of a chapel train. The four tiered veil of im ported illusion was attached to a juliet cap of crystalized orange blossoms, encrusted with seed pearls and irride scent sequins. The bride car ried a bouquet of Happiness Roses showered with stream ers of stephanotis. Miss Paula Dean Crook of Troy, N. C., was maid of honor. She was attired in an emerald green velveteen dress, fashioned with a fit ted bodice and long sleeves pointed over the hands. She wore a matching circlet of velveteen and illusion, and carried a white fur muff band ed with red velvet ribbon with poinsettias. Bridesmaids included Miss Martha Sue Derreberry of Andrews and Miss Bette Dru cilla Bridges of Falls Church, Va. Both wore identical em erald green velveteen gowns fashioned like those of the honor attendant, and each car ried white fur muffs. Roger Mulkey of Canton, N. C. was his brother's best man. Usher -groomsmen were John Haralson Duncan, Samuel Walter Duncan, Edward Mc Afee and John Allen David son, Jr., brother of the bride, all of Murphy. Music was presented by Mrs. Lelia Axley Van Gorder of Andrews, organist. Mrs. Charles West of Andrews was soloist. The bride's mother chose a day-length gown of dubonnet Chantilly lace over taffeta with satin cummerbund, elbow length gloves and matching headdress of net and feathers, and her corsage was of pink roses. Warner, cousins of the bride. Mrs. Mulkey is a junior at Western Carolina College, where she is a member of Delta Zeta Sorority. Upon her return from her wedding trip she will return to WCC to continue her education. The bridegroom attended Western Carolina College and is employed by the Southern Railway Company, Asheville. The rehearsal dinner party was held in the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. A.
