Masons And Hoovers Entertain At New Year's Eve Party MURPHY - Some 150 guests attended a gala New Year's party Tuesday evening, Dec. 31, at the home of Or. and Mrs. W. A. Hoover. Serving as hosts for the party along with Dr. and Mrs. Hoover were Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Mason. Or. Hoover and Mr. Mason greeted the guests at the door of the gayly decorated Hoover home, which featured green ery and gold and silver color motifs. Entertainment for the night included a bridge tourna - ment, and as the guests ar rived, the hosts passed out tallies, showing each one which table of bridge he should join. Guests were then shown Into the dining room, which fea tured a table covered with a red linen cloth, centered with a silver punch bowl. Punch was served by candl light by Mrs. Kate Mauney, who was attired in a blue hostess gown. Mrs. Mason and Mrs. Hoover, attired in red gowns, served hor'd'our ves. The bridge tournament last ed until around 11:00 p.m. and Mrs. Edward H. Brumby, Or. Paul Hill, Mrs. Elizabeth Shields and Mr. L. W. Shields won prizes for the night's play. Guests who did not join in the bridge play arrived at 9:00 p.m. and at 11 :00 a smor gasbord dinner was served, followed by coffee in theparty room. The hostesses announced the arrival of the new year with an old school bell pro cured for the occasion, and at 12 o'clock mUbUght, the group joined in singing the tra ditional 'Auld Lang Syne.' Horns and noise makers were also provided by the hostesses to ring in the New Year, and the hostesses also provided more of the little horns for guests to take home to their children. The reception, immediately following the ceremony, was held in the home of the bride's parents. Mrs. Price is a graduate of Murphy High School and ' Grady Memorial School of Nursing in Atlanta. The bridegroom attended Georgia Tech in Atlanta and is employed as an engineer for O'Neill & Durham, Inc., a construction company in Atlanta.
