Ivies Entertain Employees
At Christmas Dinner
MURPHY ? Mr. and Mrs.
Peyton C. Ivte held their an
nual Christinas dinner and
party for their employees on
Friday night, Dec. 20.
The dinner was held at the
Henry House at 6:30 p.m.
After dinner, the group gath
ered at the Ivie home for the
party. The home was decorat
ed within keeping of Christ
mas with a large Christmas
tree lighted In one corner of
the room, surroundedby gifts.
The tea table was covered
with a white cloth tod cen
tered with ? crystal punch
bowl surrounded by gold
leaves and balls, and five
branch candelabra: with light
ed yellow candles. The group
enjoyed singing Christinas
carols. After this the gifts
were exchanged.
During the social hour
punch, cake, nuts, and mints
were served to the following:

MURPHY - Mrs. Alice Col
bert Full wood, 85, died
Friday, Dec. 27, in a Murphy
hospital after a long illness.
She was a native of Chero
kee County, a daughter o t the
late Charles and Addle Col
bert.
Surviving are four daugh
ters, Mrs. Ora Gibson of Mur
phy, Mrs. Evelyn Wiley, and
Mrs. Pauline Sudderth of Al
coa, Tenn., and Mrs. Kather
ine Alexander of Rockford,
Tenn.
Services were held at 2
p.m. Tuesday in Texana Bap
tist Church.
The Rev. Hamilton officiat
ed and burial was in the church
cemetery,

and Mrs. Palmer's daughter, Judy Kay, (above, center, seated) who is a student at Fort Sill
Indian School in Lawton. Miss Palmer is attending the school under the sponsorship of Wayne
Holland of Murphy. The photo above was taken at the school when the family gathered for
Christmas dinner. On the way to Oklahoma to be with their daughter for Christmas, the Pal
mers encountered the winter blizzard which struck the mid-west during the holidays, but they
were able to make it to Lawton in time for Christmas. They returned to Murphy last week.

died at 6:46 p.m. Sunday, Dec.
29, in the home of a son, Roy,
after an illness of two weeks.
She was a native of Yancey

ROBBINSVILLE - Mrs.
Edith Holland Carver, 82, died
at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 29
in her home here after a long
illness.
She was a native of Cherokee
County and the widow of Tho
mas B. Carver, who died in
1935. She was a member of
the Robbinsville Methodist
Church for more than 20
years.
Surviving are three daugh
ters, Miss Ellen Carver of the
home, Mrs. Roy W. Hamilton
of Bryson City and Mrs. Ho
ward Wagner of Fort Myers,
Fla.; three sons. Bill of the
home, Joe of Robbinsville, and
Rae of Tapoco; 12 grandchild
ren, seven great-grandchild
ren, and two great - great -
grandchildren.
Services were held at 2:30
p.m. Tuesday at Robbinsville
Methodist Church.
The Rev. Henry Justice and
the Rev. E. G. Altland officia
ted and burial was in Old
Mother Cemetery.

mer, 68, of Marble, died in
her home Monday night, Dec.
23, after a period of declin
ing health.
She was a native of Swain
County, a daughter of the late
Will and Ellen McHan Tabor.
She had lived in Cherokee
County for a number of years.
Surviving are the husband,
Fred Palmers two sons, Henry
and Jack of Marble; a sister,
Mrs. Vlrgie Freeman of Bry
son City; a brother, G rover
Tabor of Valdese; and three
grandchildren.
Services were held at 3 p.m.
