Cagle and Dejean Melancon
were united in marriage
March 28 at Smryna First
Methodist Church. The Rev.
Frank Echols officiated.
The bride is the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. B. T. Cagle
and the granddaughter of Mr.
and Mrs. B. H. Phillips of
Clay County. Her mother is the
former Miss Annie Laura
Phillips.

i of Daytona Beach, Fla.
Vows were received in a
nupital setting decorated with
floor baskets of white gladioli
and pompons arranged against
a background of jade green
ery and fern balls lighted
? with white tapers forming an
arc.
Wedding music was sung
by Mrs. Ben E. Hadaway who
sang "Whither Thou Goest"
and "Wedding Prayer."

Bridesmaid was Miss Judi
Phillips of Hayesville. They
wore street length dresses
of green silk organza design
ed with scoop necklines and
elbow length sleeves. The full
overskirt of matching organza
was centered in the back with
a sweetheart bow. For their
headpieces they wore circlet
veils caught to a singleyellow
rose and wore corsages of
Dutch Iris.
The bride, given in mar
riage by her father, wore a
gown of ivory peau de sole
fashioned with a fitted bodice
and controlled bell shaped
skirt. The fitted bodice was
designed with a sweetheart
neckline and elbow length
sleeves accented with a band
of Alencon lace forming the
waistline. Tiny self covered
buttons fashioned the back in
terest of the bodice which
flowed into a bustle effect that
extended into a chapel train.
Cancer Crusade

Ledford said the Cancer Cru
sade is over but Clay still
needs more Money for their
quota. She asked this week
that contributions be left at
Citizens Bank & Trust Co.
She is secretary and will ac

seed pearls centered with peau
de soie bows. She wore a
cathedral length veil of im
ported hand embroidered
Brussels lace belonging to
Miss Ida Lee Brown. The
bride's only jewelry was a
single strand of pearls. She
carried an old fashioned
nosegay of tiny rose buds
and lilies of the valley.
For the wedding Mrs. Cagle
chose a blue lace sheath with
matching accessories and a
shoulder corsage of white
cymbidium orchids.
After the ceremony, Mr.
and Mrs. Cagle entertained
with a reception in the church
parlor.
Following the honeymoon,
the couple will reside on North
Rock Springs Road, Atlanta.

HA YESVILLE --Johnny Auberry left hold the 9 lb 4 oz
large mouth bass he caught in Lake Chatuge Saturday Mor
ning, May 9. He was fishing from a boat, using a live lizzard
for bait. Gary Mease left holds two more nice bass he caught
while fishing with Auberry.
Forgoes To Appear
In Wrestling Match
HAYESVILLE - The Fabul
ous Fargoes, Jackie and Don,
have been signed to appear in
a tag team match that will
highlight a big all - star wrest
ling card Saturday, May 16, in
Hayesville High School Gym
nasium.
Jackie and Don formerly
held the world tag team
championship and helped at
tract crowds of more than
18,000 on many occasions in
New York's Madison Square
Garden.
Opposing them will be two
of the best in the game. They
are Rowdy Red Roberts and
Masked Terror, a wild mask
ed man from parts unknown.
The card is being sponsor
ed by the 8th Grade with Nick
Gulas and Roy Welch the
matchmakers. It will begin at
8:15 p.m. with two of the nat
ion's top women wrestlers ?
Mae Goodner and Karen Kel
logg - colliding.
Tickets for the card will be
sold at popular prices. Ring
side and reserve seats will
cost $1.50, general admission
is $1.00, and children under
12 years of age will be admit
ted for 50 cents.
Proceeds from this match
will be used for playground
equipment.

Moore Home
Destroyed
By Fire
HAYESVILLE- The home
of Mr. & Mrs. Jim Moore
was destroyed by fire it 10:30
a.m . Tuesday, May 12, in the
Tusquittee section of Clay
County.
Mrs. Moore discovered
smoke coming from the roof
of her home during a heavy
rain storm and called neigh
bors for help.
Mr. Moore was away when
the home caught fire.
With the help of neighbors
Mrs. Moore was able to save
some furniture from the
flames but these pieces were
damaged by smoke and water.
It is believed that the fire
was started by lightening dur
ing the storm.
Due to heavy rain, the
out buildings close to the house
were saved.
Mrs. Cress Moss returned
home after spending last week
with Mr. and Mrs. Bud Smith
in Winston Salem.
