Kyker in Calderwood Methodist Church, Calderwood, Term., on July 23. The bride is the danghwr of the late Mr. and Mrs. Wil li*? Harve Hamilton. The bridegroom is the soo of Mrs. J J. Kyker of Mar yvllle, Tern, and the late J. S. Kyker. The Rev. William Paul Cluck performed the cere mony. Wedding music was presented by Mrs. W. Glenn Hamilton, sister-in-law of the bride. CHURCH NEWS ANDREWS - The Presby terian Women held their July Circle meeting at the home of Mrs. Luke Ellis on Monday evening at 7s30 p.m. Mrs. Edwin Bristol, president, pre sided. Mrs. Joe Sursavage gave a Bible study of the letters of John. The program was presented by a guest, Mrs. Sara Hay, of Carrobon, Ga. Ten members were present. ANDREWS - The Methodist Men will be host to the Sub District Methodist Men and their wives on Friday even ing of this week at the Berk shire Picnic area. All the men of the church are urged to attend and remember thij is Ladles' Night. Notify Olen Strarton of your plans to at tend. ANDREWS - A workshop and planning session is being planned for local Com missions of the First Metho dist Church on Sunday evening, August 9, at 7:30. Each mem ber of the five Commissions of the church are urged to attend. S. of First Metho dist Church will hold their Given in marriage by her brother, W. Glenn Hamilton, the bride wore a day length drees of white cotton wink pique, an princess lines, with lace, wrist length puffed sleeve*. Her veil of Illusion fell from a velvet crown. Her pearl necklace, and the white Bible topped by an orchid, were gifts of the bridegroom. Mrs. P. W. Williams, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. She wore a pink lace day leqgth dress with match ing accessories. Her flowers were pink carnations. Ushers were Billy Jo Wil liams and Hugh Rayburn. Following the ceremony a reception was held at the home of Mrs. Williams. Mrs. Kyker Is a graduate of Western Carolina College and Is a member of die faculty of the Andrewx High School. Mr. Kyker was ed ucated In the Maryvllle schools and is self-employed. After a southern wedding trip, the couple will reside at Garland Road, Maryvllle, Tenn. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Beck of Washington Court House, Ohio are visiting Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Brown. Enroute to An drews, they spent time with Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Der re berry at Charleston, W. Va. Before returning home they will visit Mrs. Beck's sister, Mrs. Milton Smith and family of Saluda, S. C. Mrs. Beck Is the former Mrs. Evelyn Martlndlll. A Mr. and Mrs. Roland Day have as their guest, Mrs. Lil lian Weiler of Naperville, 111. A Mr. and Mrs. Wade Derre berry of Charleston, W. Va. are visiting Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Brown and Mr. and Mrs. F. MIKE TATHAM, 16, poses with a ten foot, 3 inch shark which he caught from Crystal Beach Pier with the light rig he is holding. Mike moved to Fort Waldon Beach, Fla., recently with his parents, Sgt. and Mrs. Bill Hayes. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. John Tatham and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Day, of Andrews. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Btck of Washington Court House, Ohio, and Mr. and Mrs. Ar thur James and family of Marble were visitors at Fields of the Wood and Hia wassee Dam on Monday. A Dr. Whit Davis of Wades - boro visited his mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Davis last week. He was accompanied by a friend Pat Taylor, Jr., also of Wadesboro, who is a member of the State Legislature of N.C. A Mr. and Mrs. Joel Frye and children of Charlottehave moved to Andrews and are living at Hermann's Trailer Park. A Mrs. Robert Barker has re turned to her home in Wash ington, D. C. after spending several days with her hus band and friends in Andrews. A Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Gil lespie, Jr., and children, Mary Ann, Arthur and Becky of Durham are spending the week with Mrs. Gillespie's aunt. Miss Elizabeth Kilpatrick and other relatives in Andrews and Marble. On Sunday they were guests of Dr. and Mrs. Fred Kilpatrick of Cullowhee. A A/2C Harry B. Martin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dillard Mar tin, is spending an 18 month assignment in Turkey. A Rev. R. C. Shearin, pastor of Pine Chapel Baptist Church of Hampton, Virginia, will be preaching in a revival at the Peachtree Memorial Baptist Church beginning August 3, at 7:30 P. M. Rev. Community Plaaaiag Program Discossod At Diwor Meeting ANDREWS- A public din ner meeting to explain the im portance of a community planning program for Andrews was held Tuesday at 6:30 p. m. at the Methodist Fellow ship Hall. W. D. Whi taker, planning board chairman, presided. Wayne K. Gladden and Cha rles D. Cunning, community planners of the Western North Carolina Regional Planning Commission, discussed the need for planning for future development of the town. They also presented a re port on the population and economy of Andrews. Garden Club Has Plant Exchange ANDREWS - A plant ex change was sponsored by members of the Vally River Garden Club at the Thursday meeting, which was a noon picnic held at the wild flower garden back of the Carnegie Library. Mrs. Roland Day, president, presided. During the business ses sion, new year books were passed out by the program committee. Four guests were included in the seventeen attending. They were Mrs. Lillian Weiler of Naperville, 111., Mrs. B. M. Gibbs, Richmond, Va., Mrs. F. F. Russell, Knoxville, Tenn., Mrs. Ian Hood, Gain esville, Fla. Mr. and Mrs. B. A. Combs and daughter, Ann, who re cently purchased a New Moon Mobile Home will be moving to their new property soon. A Mrs. B. M. July 30, 1964 rjCinda - Kciif err el? err if Ji (fJride Of Ronald Garwood ANDREWS - Miss Linda Kay Derreberry and Ronald Ear wood were united in marriage at the Valley River Baptirt Church on Saturday afternoon, July 25, at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Harold Ankerson con ducting the ceremony. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Derreberry and he is the son of Mrs. Louellen Ear wood and the late Leonard Earwood of Marble. Mr. Derreberry gave his daughter in marriage. She wa attired in a street length sheath dress of white linen, and a bridal hat. She carried a bouquet of white carnations on a white Bible. Miss Brenda Denny served as ring bearer. Hardy Luther served as usher. The bride and groom were honored with a supper at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Gibby following the wedding and a cake cutting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. carl Derre berry. The bride is a graduate of Andrews High School and is employed with Berkshire In ternational Corporation. The groom is also a gradu ate of Andrews High School and is employed with Andrews Builders Supply Co. The couple will reside in Andrews. Little Leaguers Honored With Picnic July 27 ANDREWS - The annual picnic, i honoring all Little League players, managers, assistant managers, and spon sors was held at the Berk shire picnic area on Monday evening at 6:30 p.m. Approxi mately 100 attended. Mrs. F. E. Blalock gave recognition to sponsors and presented gifts to managers and assistants. Mrs. A. G. Swan and daugh ters, Mary Elizabeth and Caroline of San Antonio, Texas ?re visitors of Mrs. Elizabeth Davis and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Swan. A Mr. and Mrs. P. C. Higgin botham of Greenville, S. C. were the hooseguests of Mrs. E. K. Slagle during weekend. A S. J. Gernert was guest speaker at the Presbyterian Church for morning worship service on Sunday.
