Gist PEACHTREE - The Nov ember meeting of the Peach tree Home Demonstration Club met with Mrs. Clarence Hendrix on Thursday, Nov. 5, at 1:30 p.m. Plans for the Christmas Bazaar to be held in early December in which all home demonstration clubs through out the county will be parti cipating were reviewed. The group decided to have an all day workshop on Thursday, Nov. 12, at the home of Mis ses Mac and Dale Sudderth in preparation for the bazaar. The demonstration "Quick Breads" was given by the Home Economics Agent. With so many convenience foods being used, emphasis on basic biscuit dough was demonstrat ed showing the various uses such as cheese and ham bis cuits, stacked jelly or pre serve biscuit, cinnamon rolls and biscuit toppings for meat pies. With the exception of the latter the dough is shorter. The members brought along samples to share and the host ess served a delicious salad course to Mesdames Arthur Olsson, Bill Barnett, J. V. Gist, Misses Mae and Dale Sudderth, and Miss Thelma Wheeler. Peachtree News Peachtree Community De velopment Club met Monday, Nov. 9, at 6:30 p.m. for a pot luck supper, followed by a business session. There were 70 members present from 31 families. Phese enjoyed a real feast after the singing of "America The Bea utiful and the invocation. Special guest of the club was Dave Townson, Murphy, who owns one of the largest farms at Peachtree. -p. Ten members of the Peach tree Civil Defense Club were present at the banquet held on Saturday night, Nov 7, for the Ten members of the Peach tree Community Development Club were present at the ban quet held on Saturday night, Nov. 7, for the awarding of the winners in the club pro jects for this year. We were awarded 2nd prize in our youth program and 3rd in community development. -P Twenty members of the Peachtree Community De velopment Club enjoyed serv ing the Murphy Lions Club in the Murphy School cafe teria Sunday, Nov. 8, at a one o'clock luncheon. The Lions were being host to the District 21-A Lions Clubs. There were present 146 Lions and Lionesses from this dis trict to enjoy the food pre pared by many Peachtree cooks. Everyone cooperated and the club officers wish to say, "Thank you for the fine help." They stud ied the people of Malaya, and enjoyed the kind of refresh ments children of that land might have. Ten members were present. -P Our community was sad dened to learn of the passing of Mrs. W. C. Messer's sis ter. Mrs. S. J. Ravels, At lanta, Sunday, Nov. 8. Mr. and Mrs. Messer are in At lanta this week for the fun eral services which were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. -P Mrs. Reba Roberts has opened up a new shop in the big store building of the J. Franklin Smiths. We welcome this new business in our com munity and insist that you drop by to see and buy. -P Peachtree Baptist Church will have as special guest on next Sunday.Nov. 15, 7:30p.m. the B. S. U. of Young Harris College. The pastor, advisor of this group is Rev. PaulSor rells, a young minister in our neighboring state of Geor gia. This will be a service of interest to all, especially to our youth. Funandfellowshipl will be enjoyed by all after the regular service. Violet 4-H Club Met Monday Nov. 9 VIOLET - The Violtt 4-H Club met Monday, Nov 9, at the Violet Baptist Church. There were 10 members present at the regular meet ing. Plans for a Christmas party and play was the main topic of discussion. The Rev. W. D. Graham gave the devotion. Pledges were led by Calvin Murphy, club president. Due to the absence of the vice-president, the presi dent appointed Marlene Bea vers to lead the pledges and Margaret Beavers to hear the devotion at the next meeting. The club wishes to congra tulate Alma Martin, the club's new song leader, on the ex cellent job she did.
