Information On Drivers Education MURPHY- The 1963 Gen eral Assembly passed ? law requiring new drivers under 18 years of age to complete an educational course before applying for a drivers license and providing faster suspen sion of the license of all dri vers under 18 years of age for moving violations. Joe Sher rill, who works with the Department of Motor Ve hicles said this week that this course provided by the Department is primarily for persons between the ages of 15 years and nine months and eighteen whose high schools do not regularly offer driver education. Students enrolled In schools which offer driver education will be required to have spe cial permission from their school principles in order to attend the Department of Mo tor Vehicles Course. The course includes eight hours of classroom instruct- ] ion only. It does not include training behind the wheel and does not fulfill requirements of Insurance companies for reduced rates for males un der twenty-five who complete formal driver education cour ses. Those who wish to enroll must produce a copy of their birth certificate and complete an enrollment form at the off ice of the local Driver Lic ense Examiner. The applicant will receive a letter to his parents or guardian indicating the locat ion, date, and time of the course. In some cases he may be notified Liter by post card of the course's locat ion and hour. Mr. Sher rill said that an other course will begin as soon as enough people are en rolled. These courses supp lement the high school cour ses offered here. Mr. Sher rill suggested that Interested students should contact Eugene Cookejicenst examiner, in die courthouse on Mondays and Tuesdays.
