Pyrite Crystal
(Cont'd From Front)
Mrs. Pate accompanied Mrs.
Helton to Chicago to make the
presentation.
E. Leland Webber, direct
or of the museum told the
women in accepting the gift
that the pyrite crystal would
be the largest specimen at
the museum. The geologist
said he had never heard of
another crystal as large.
Pyrite is a common min
eral burned in making sul
furic dioxide and sulfuric
acid.
Mr. Hughes was a resident
of Route 4, Murphy. His wife,
Ruth, is the owner and oper
ator of Ranger Beauty Shop
on Route 4.
The Unique Christ
(This article was written
by the Herald of Hope and sent
to us by Mrs. Mily Raven
croft of Marble, N. C.)
His birth was contrary to
the laws of life. His death was
contrary to the laws of death.
He had no cornfields or fish
eries, but he spread a table
for 5000 and had bread and
fish to spare.
He walked on do beautiful
carpets nor velvet rugs, but he
walked on the waters of the
Sea of Galilee and they sup
ported him.
He held but arms of mercy
and did good to all. Yet, when
he died, few men mourned.
However, a black crepe, so to
speak, was hung over the sun.
Men trembled not for their
sins, but the earth beneath
them shook under the load.
Just three years he preach
ed his gospel. He wrote no
book; built no church house;
had no monetary backing. Yet,
after 1900 years, he is the
one central character of
human history - - - the pivot
around which die events of the
ages revolve, and the only re
generator of the human race.
Was this merely die son of
Joseph and Mary, who cros
sed the world's horizon 1900
years ago, and spilled His
blood on Calvary's hill for the
redemption of mankind?
What thinking man can but
exclaim: "My Lord and my
Godl"
