Howard 60, of Murphy, died unexpect edly Sunday July 18 In her home. She wu i native of Gilmer County, Ga., and moved to Cherokee County when a young girl. She was a daughter of the late Jessie and Georgia Joyce Jones, and the widow of Alonzo Howard. Surviving are two daughter, Mrs. Fern Davis and Mrs. Voneta Win of Murphy, five sons, Castile of Murphy, Vau ghn of San Diego, Calif., J.B. of Bethpage, N. Y., Elton of Boring, Ore. and Kell Howard of Atlanta; two sisters, Mrs, Willie West and Mrs. Kittle Stiles of Murphy; two brothers, Garney of Murphy, and Jewel Nix of Oteen; 14 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Hinging Dog Baptist Church of which she was a member. The Rev. William Thomp son and the Rev. Wayne Crisp officiated and burial was in Tocnotla Cemetery. Pallbearers were, O'Neal Crisp, Luther and Carl Gen try, Gene Fair, Bill James and Oran Witt. Ivie Funeral Home was in charge. Phone 837-2425 NOTICE As of June 14 the Murphy Town Board passed an ordinance as follows: No person shall discharge or cause to be discharged any storm water, ground water, roof runoff, subsurface drainage, cooling water, or unpolluted industrial process waters to any sanitary sewer. The penalty for the violation of this order was contained in section 901 which reads as follows: "Any person who shall violate or fall to comply with any of the provisions of this ordinance or who shall counsel, aid, or abet any such violation or failure to comply, shall be deemed guilty of an offense and shall be punished by a fine not toexceeo fifty dollars or by imprisonment not to exceed thirty days." For more complete information on this ordinance, it may be viewed at the Town Hall. This sewer ordinance becomes effective on August 1,1965. The Town Board requests your cooperation in the immediate correction of all drainage which is now in violation of this ordinance. L. L. The brothers, living near the pond fish often, using bread and cucumbers for bait. They are the sons of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Hogsed. -A Walter Hogsed who is em ployed in Marion spent the week end with his family. July 22, 1965 InircbDruui The first general moeting of the conference year Including Circles and WSCS of the First Methodist Church took place at the Fellowship Hall on Tuesday at 7:30 pan. Mrs. John Christy, president, pre sided. Mrs. C. S. Freel, chairman of missionary education .gave an Inspirational program In which she told die highlights of her recent trip to the Holy Land. She showed slides taken of the country side, buildings, temples and tourist attrac tions. A display of gifts and maps of Israel, Jerusalem,Lebanon and Syria were of great Interest. Mrs. Freel told of the ple asure of meeting the relatives of Joe El Khouri In Lebanon. Mrs. Ray Hogsed gave a devotional using the theme "The Family". The scope of the work su pported by the WSCS was out lined by Mrs. S. J. Gernert. At the recent conference held at Lake Junaluska die 1300 delegates and visitors were told they contributed to more than 2000 missionaries,deac onesses and employed wor kers plus hundred of nationals who serve In 1000 projects In 48 countries.
