Hats off to our Board of
County Commissioners and
the Mayor of Hayes ville and
the Town Board of Commiss
ioners for joining forces to
clean up Clay County's worst
eye sore. Have you been by
the dump since it was cleaned
up? Oh boy does it ever look
nice. It is with pride we can
drive by this latest develop
ment. In the past we wanted
to turn our heads from such a
shameful sight. With having
so many people from all over
the USA and even foreign nat
ions. visiting Hinton Rural
Life Center, Wonderview and
Lake Chatuge, we can point
the route proudly now.
Everyone in Clay County can
now use the dump for trash.
Don Weaver .Mayor, has asked
that we burn as much paper
etc as we can at home before
taking the unburnable items to
be dumped. Now that we have
something nice let's keep it
that way.

Heard Irene Schultz of the
Warne community say "You
would think there is going to be
a famine at our house. I have
filled two freezers so full
you can't edge in a tooth pick
and filled 300 jars of food and
not done canning yet".
Due to lack of time we are
not quite so well fixed as
Irene. May just go down when
we get hungry.

Town And Co. Share
In Clean-Up Project
HAYESV1LLE - The Clay
County Board of Commiss
ioners, the Mayor of Hayes -
ville, and TownBoardof Com
missioners joined together
funds sufficient to clean up
Clay County's worst eyesore,
last week. The cost of $600.00
was shared equally between
the Town of Hayes ville and the
County of Clay.
For many years the trash
dump located on the road to
Hinton Center has been an
ugly mess with trash dumped
along the road banks on the
outside of the dump.
A bull dozer was hired to dig
a ditch 26 ft. wide, 225 ft.
long and 8 to 10 ft. deep. All
the trash was dozed into ths
ditch and the grounds cleaned
up. A road has been graveled
to the ditch and also along the
side of this 225 ft. ditch. All
residents in the City of Hayes
ville and In the County of Clay
can now dump their trash.
This is an improvement that
for many years citizens over
the county have been concer
ned about. There is no excuse
to have a messy dump any
longer since the ditch with
access road that can be trav
eled in all kinds of weather
is now available.
Prosecution will be carried
to the fullest extent if any one
is caught dumping outside this
ditch, officials stated.
The officials further stated
that a bull dozer will push
the trash to the end of the
ditch at different intervals
and cover this. They asked
that no heavy appliances such
as stoves, frigidaries, etc. or
car bodies be dumped since
they will fill space and can
not be pressed by the dozer
as can other trash.
