SC< UT ART Young But Active The newly organized Girl Scout Troop H30 at Hiwassee Dam is bustling with activity. For Girl Scout Week, the troop displayed their textile paintings and put up a bulletin board depicting the meaning of Girl Scouting. The troop, sponsored by the Hiwassee Dam PTA , was organized by Miss Bernice Boring and Mrs. Beverly Adkins. District Clubs Hold Art, Crafts Contest ANDREWS - District com petition for North Carolina Federated Women's Club was held at the Woman's Club Building in Waynesville, Th ursday afternoon, March 3. Members of clubs in Dis trict 1 competed in fine arts, crafts and music. Senior high school girls, sponsored by the district, competed for nomin ation for a NCFW scholar ship of $750. The Konnaheeta Woman's Club of Andrews took top honors among the artists with eight blue ribbons. Ruby Louise Carver, daugh ter of Mrs. Gwyn Carver of Rt. 1, Robbinsville, was named district winner in the scholar ship competition and will go to Greensboro March 12 to enter state competition. Andrews blue ribbon winn ers included Mrs. A. B, Ch andler, candlemaking and wr eath of natural material, Mrs. Edwin Bristol, Flemish arr angement anu snencrait; Mrs. Luke Ellis, copper enamel ing, Christmas decorations and painted eggs; Mrs. S, J. Gernert, wood carving and collage, and Mrs. Luke Ellis, a hand made quilt. Club To Meet The Konneheeta Woman's Club will meet at the Meth odist Fellowship Hall, March 17 at 7:00 p.m. Executive Board meeting at 6:30 p.m. The Public Affairs Depart ment with Mrs. Luke Ellis, Chairman, will have charge of the program. A film strip subject: Home is Where The Hurt Is, will be shown. Hostesses are Mrs. L. L, Love, Mrs. A. B. Chancier, Jr., Mrs. Hubert Walker, Mrs. W. W.Ashe, Mrs.Larry Seeley and Mrs. Amos Harris. Members are reminded to bring fruit jars to be decor ated. Others from Andrews rec eiving honors were Mrs.H.E. Davis, 2nd place, crocheted afghan; Mrs. Luke Ellis, 2nd place, spitchery: Mrs Eliz abeth Kilpatrick, 2nd place, place mats, and 3rd place, ceramics. Mrs. Lewis Reed, Chair man of Education Department served on the scholarship co mmittee and Mrs. Luke Ellis served as chairman of Public Affairs Committee. Miss Terri Day represented the Andrews Club in the sch olarship competition. Those attending the meeting from Andrews were Mrs. Ed gar Wood, President of the Konnaheeta Woman's Club; Mrs. A. B. It is the judgment of the court that the defendant be confin ed In the common jail of Cher okee County for a period of three months and assigned to do work under the supervis ion of the State Prison De partment, and pay a fine of $25.00 and the cost of the action. The prison sentence is suspended with the consent of the defendant given In open "court for a periodof two years on the following conditions: (1) That the defendant pay the sum of $10.00 on the fine and cost at this time. (2) That he pay the balance of the fine and cost in payments of $25.00 each. The first $25.00 pay ment to be due and payable on March 15, 1966 with the bal ance due on April 15, 1966. (3) That the defendant be of good behavior and not violate any of the laws of the states or federal government. Peachtree News Peachtree Baptist Church ladies cooked and served a Banquet Style Dinner during YWA Focus Week for the Young People of the church. Rev. Jimmy Hogsed of the Brasstown church was the after dinner speaker. He brought many funny incidents from the new book out on Dr. J. C. Pipes, a former Peach tree resident, and closed with a challenge to the Young Peo ple for dedication to the things of eternal value. Galusha Pullium Dies In Andrews ANDREWS - Services for Galusha Pullium, 66, who died Tuesday, March 1, were held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Fiftt Baptist Church of Andrews. The Rev. Thomas Christ mas officiated and burial was in Valleytown Cemetery. Pallbearers were Floyd Brooks, Jack Mintz, Clyde Rector, Jack Herbert,Walter Brown, Bob Jones, Lee Nich ols and Olen Stratton. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Rotary Club, the Masonic Lodge and the executive committee oi dis trict Memorial Hospiid. Mr. Pullium ha J been jx)s? master of Andrews for twenty four years and office manager of District Memorial Hospital for the past ten years. He was a Scottish Rite Ma son and had been secretary of Masonic Lodge 529 for the past twenty years. He also had been secretary of the Ro tary Club several years. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Ruth Clark Pullium; a daughter. Miss Anne Pullium of Greensboro; a son, Lt. Jerry Pullium, USAF, Viet Nam; and a sister, Mrs. H. E, Davis of Andrews.
