Girl Stoot Bo To Bo Held April 22-24 Several hundred Girl Scout Cadeties and Seniors are ex pected to attend the third Girl Scout Rounder ee which will be held April 23-34 at Apple T ree Group Camp In Nantahala Nat ional Forest, between Frank lin and Andrews. The encampment Is spon sored this year by the Senior Planning Board of Plsgah Co uncil which has set up comm ittees to plan every phase of the event. The site Is that at the All-States Encampment at Girl Scouts at the United States of America held last year and again In 1966 and 1967. Purpose at the Rounder ee program Is to develop a better understanding and apprec iation of the history and cus toms of the Cherokee. The Program Committee Is work ing with Mrs. Mary Chiltow sky of Cherokee to plana visit to the camp Saturday by Ind ians. They will conduct work shops in Indian crafts, live woodcriving, basketry, cer amics and beading . Girls may also learn legends, songs, bits of the Cherokee language and dances, from die guests. Dr. Rufus Morgan of Frank line will visit the encampment Saturday to lead nature groups and tell legends around the campflre. He will lead the morning workshop on Sun morning workshop on Sun r# C? day . Cadettes and Seniors from HendersonvUle will do an Indian Ceremonial program at Friday's campfrie. Theresa Cantrell, of Ashe vllle, President of the Senior Planning Board of the council, is General Chairman for the Rounderee. She has designed the special patch girls who attend the event can wear. It Is based on the theme of Nantahala, Land of the Noon day Sun. Karen Hollifleld of Black Mountain Is Program Chairman. Mrs. James Suit of Franklin, and her troop make up the Management Committee with Sue Collins as Girl Scout Coordinator. Peachtree News Peach tree Community Club met In reguUr monthly sess ion on Monday, April U, at 6:30 p.m. with a delightful evening meal. Due to much sickness in the community the attendance of 32 was much less than usual. In the absence of the pres ident, Mrs. Bill Barnett, Jimmy Foust, the vice-pres ident, presided. Mrs. W. T. Brown was guest speaker of the evening. He showed slides of a trip that he made in Europe while on a tour with other Poultrymen from America. He made all of us feel deeply grateful for our home land with its high standard of living that we take for gran ted in comparison to the very dull life most people in Eur ope must accept. Members of the Peach tree Community Club have just completed a First Aid Course taught by three members of the Murphy Rescue Squad, Mr. Jack Thompson, Mr. Charles H. Hyatt, and Mrs. Frank Plemmons. This was a very helpful study that every person should have, and these Rescue Squad members do a very fine job of teaching. Thank you fellows for a job well done I The Peach tree Community Club and the Peach tree Home Demonstration Club joined hands as host to the Blood Mobile on last Thursday at die Murphy Power Board Build ing. Food was served to 62 blood donors, and some 25pe ople who came to offer blood but were turned down due to recent illness. Six workers from the clubs participated in this activity. -P We welcome back to our community the Ralph Sudd erth family who have been living in Salisbury, N. C. -p. Mrs. Bill Barnett is a pat ient in the Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem. We are really missing her since she is one off our most active people in every phase of community life. We wish for her a most speedy recovery. -p. Mr. Michael Robinson is a patient in a local hospital sitff ering from scarlet fever. We are happy to learn that he is better. -p.
