The ceremony was perfor med by the Rev. Boyd Hogsed of Hayes ville. The bride chose a navy blue Suit with white accessories and a white carnation corsage. A reception was held foll owing the ceremony. The table was covered with a white lace doth, centered with lacy fern and sweet peas. Mrs. Wood, sister of the groom, served and was assisted by Mrs. Herman Jones and Mrs. Willie Ledford. Mrs. Brumby served In the House in the 1965 Regular Session and two Extra Sessions. She was a member of nine Committees including the Education Committee, Finance Committee, Conservation and Development Committee, and Health Committee. Mrs. Brumby appeared before the Utilises Committee in behalf of Westco Telephone Co,, and was instrumental in getting tolls eliminated between Murphy and Andrews. She also was successful in having Fort Butler declared an historic site and secured a grant of $6,000 from the General Assembly for archaelogical research and planning. Mrs. Brumby supported and voted for increased approp riations for roads, schools, teachers, state highway em ployees, and other state employes. Governor Dan K. Moore appointed Mrs. Brumby Septem ber 28,1965 to the State Council on Mental Retardation for at of four years. She I. s also recently been invited to join the International Platform Association whose membership includes out standing [ ople throughout the nation, including President Johnsor 1 Vice-President Hubert Humphrey. Mrs. b. -.nby headed the 300 Million Dollar Road Bond Drive in Cherokee County which passed by one of the largest percentages in the state. At the close of the General Assembly Mrs. Brumby was voted by a Raleigh Newspaper as one of five most outstand ing freshmen Legislators. Mrs. Brumby holds an Associate Arts Degreefr i Young Harris College and a B. S. Degree in Elementary Education from Western Carolina College. Mrs. Brumby feels that her business experience, educat ion and experience in the General Assembly qualifies her for State Senator. May 21st, will be challenge day and the Primary will be May 28th, In order to register you must have been a resident of the State for twelve months, the precinct or ward for thirty days. If you will become 21 years old before the General Election you will be allowed to register when books open for the primary and participate in the General Election. This does not apply to persons who have registered for former Elections, only to those who have not registered for any election. Mor gan, 77, died Friday, April 15 in a hospital here after a brief illness. He was a native of Cherokee County and a son of the late W. E. and Lillie Cruise Mor gan. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Hester Almond Morgan; two daughters, Mrs. Lonnie Ledford of Andrews, and Mrs. 1 homas Charlunean of Detroit Mich.; three sons. Grove of Talpa, Tex., Fred of Orville, Calif., and Kenneth Morgan of Andrews; a sister, Mrs. Belbia Mosteller of Andrews; two brothers, Gordon and Ar thur Morgan, both of Andrews; 12 grandchildren and eight gr eat-grandchildren.
