Since This Is The Last Issue Of The Scout Before The City Elections,
We Thought It It Best To Again Put Before You The Most Important Issues That
Concern The Voters And What We Would Try To Do About Them If Elected.
1 - THE SEWAGE FEE
We have said throughout these past weeks that we feel the
70% sewage tax on your water bill is unnecessary and we, the Re
publican candidates will do everything in our power to lower it or
if possible, to cut it out altogether. We will also try to get more re
sults with the new system and quit dumping raw wastes into our streams
and rivers.
2 - THE POLICE DEPARTMENT
We feel that the Police Department should be run on a business
like basis, to give protection to the people of Murphy and punish the
law breakers, to have policemen who will help visitors in our town, pro
tect the business places of Murphy and be available when needed.
3 ? STREETS
We feel that Murphy's streets up to a few weeks ago were a
disgrace to all of us and feel that some sort of street washing machine
would be money well spent. We promise you that we will do every
thing in our power to keep Murphy's streets clean and in good repair-ALL
the next four years.
4 - INDUSTRY
We will work closely with the Chamber of Commerce, the Jay
cees, the Cherokee County Development Corporation, and all others in
terested in bringing new industry to this area. We will co-operate as
much as possible with the business and industry we now have in the
matters of water, sewage and garbage.
5 ? REPEATING FORMER PROMISES
A. We say again we will do everything possible to aid all Murphy's
GOOD VOLUNTEER GROUPS.
B. We will do all we can to help Murphy's parking and traffic problems.
C. We will do all possible to provide good recreation facilities for
the young people of our town.
i ? WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT
We have tried to make ourselves clear on all vital issues. We
will not be a perfect group, but we will be a mayor and council for
ALL the people of Murphy, regardless of race or party, ALL the
time.
