Bell opened the meeting with prayer. Mrs. Maida Dock cry, chairman, presided over the business session. She also read the Bible verses for the day and presented the missionaries on the calendar for prayer for the day. Mrs. Dockery also gave the program on "The Missionary Message of the Bible." During the social hour the hostess assisted by Mrs. Odom served refreshments to the following: Mrs. Osie Foster, Mrs. Maida Dockery, Mrs. Earl Vandiver, Mrs. W.H. Murray, Mrs John O'Dell, Mrs. E.L. Shields, Mrs. W.C. Kinney Sr., Mrs. W.A. Bell and one visitor, Mrs. W.P. Odom. MURPHY-The Mae Perry circle cf"the First Baptist Church met on Wednesday afternoon, June 29 in the home of Mrs. Henry Hyatt with Mrs. W.M. Lay as co-hostess. Mrs. Lay Chairman, pre sided over the business, Mrs. Hyatt gave the prayer calendar and opened the meeting with prayer. Mrs. Creed Bates had ch arge of the program on "My Family Witnessing in the Co mmunity." Those taking part on the program were; Mrs. Henry Hyatt, Mrs. Lay, Mrs. Hayes Dockery, Mrs. Bes sie Deweese and Mrs. J.L. Baugh, Mrs. Bessie closed the meeting with prayer. During the social hour the hostesses served refresh ments to the following: Mrs. Bessie Deweese, Mrs. P.C. Hyatt, Mrs. Creed Bates, Mrs. Hayes Dock try and Mrs. J.L. Baugh. Jame M. Rink will arrive in Andrews Saturday to work with the Methodist Church for the summer. Rink, a native of Adrina, Mich., is asecondyear divinty student at Duke University. He will work with die Andrews church for five weeks. Revival services will be gin Sunday night at the Friend ship Baptist Church at Suit Rev. Paul Sorrells of Mars Hill College will be the evan gelist. There will be special mus ic at the services which will begin at 7:30 each night. -M Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hyatt and children, Geraldine and David spent the weekend as guests of Mr. and Mrs. EJ: Darnell of Decatur, Ga. E.H. Bedford officiated. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.W. John son Jr. The bridegroom is the son of Mrs. Hugh E. Hensley of Carolina Beach and the late Mr. Hensley. Mrs. R.W. Ludwig was so loist for the weddirg and Mrs. G.C. Gilbert played the organ. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a for mal gown of silk organza over taffeta, styled with three quar ter sleeves, a Sabrina neck line and fitted bodice. Inserts of Chantilly lace accented the semi-bell skirt. Sheworelace mitts with cathedral points over the hands. Her three tier ed veil of imported illusion flowed from a tiara of seed pearls and crystals. She car ried a cascade of white bri dal roses, feathered car nations and a white orchid. Miss Mary Leeuwenburg was maid of honor. She wore a tea length gown styled with an aqua Venise lace bodice in the Empire line with a scooped neckline. The skirt was vhite crepe and her circular veil of illusion was attached to an aqua rose. She carried vhite shasta daises, pompons and babies breath. Miss Judy Lockey was bridesmaid. She was dressed the same as thehtnor atten dant and carriedthesane type of flowers. Hugh E. Hensley Jr., was best man. Ushers were Her bert E. Hensley and J. Allen Johnson. A reception *as held after the ceremony at the haneof the bride's parents. The bride and bridegroom were graduated from New Hanover High School and plan to attend Wilmington College this fall. After a wedding trip to Myr tle Beach, S.C., the couple will be at home on Carolina Beach. -M District Director Mrs. Ju anita Weaver attended the State Board of Director's meeting of the North Carolina Federation of Business and Professional Women's clubs in Chapel Hill this past week end. -M Miss Eloise McKeon of the Riveria Beauty salon has re turned home after attending Leon Amendala's Hair School of Design in New York City. While attending the school studied hair cutting, hair styling and also learned about wigs and hair pieces. -M Wylie H. Mull of Center Point, Tex. returned home after visiting the past few days with his brother, Lee Mull, and his wife and his sister, Mily Ravencroft. On his way home, he will stop in Dalton, Ga. to visit another sister, Mrs. Minnie Ledford. -M Mrs. Joyce Foley and Onie Collins of Knoxville, sister and brother of Mrs. Dave Bruce, visited Murphy last Saturday. -M Larry Davis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Davis of Bell view Community made the Dean's list at Young Harris College. Larry will return to Young Harris College in September for his sophomore year. -M Mr. and Mrs. Richard John son and daughter Susan have returned to North Miami, Fla. after visiting Mr. Johnson's mother Mrs. Leonard Johnson and other relatives. Susan won first place rec ently in the Florida Open State Shorthand Contest. Her school was presented a gold loving cup. Sherry Lovingood Castain was valedictorian at thegrad uation of the class of radio logy at Grady Hospital in At lanta. She is making her home at Fayetteville where she is employed in a hospital. -M Mrs Melton Smith and chil dren, Debbie and Ricky of Fluda, S.C. have returned to their home after a visit of several days last week with Mrs. Betsy D. Brown. -M Mr. and Mrs. Bud Alex ander and children. Alec, Pa mela and Cathy have returned home after a visit with Dr. and Mrs M.P. Howard and family of Savannah, Ga. Pam ela Alexander remained for a longer visit and they were accompained home by Mark Howard who will visit them for several weeks. -M Mrs. James Lambert and chileren have arrived from Pennsylvania to make their home here. Cl aude Thomas the New Mar tin's Creek Baptist Church. The bride was attired in a floor length gown of white brocade with an empire waist. She carried a bouquet of white carnations. Charlotte Crisp, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. She wore a floor length gown of mint green brocade and carried a single long stem yellow rose. Bridesmaids wee Mrs. Geraldine Coker, Miss Har riett Hatched and Miss Linda Morris. They wore dresses slmiliar to that of the maid of honor. They also carried a single long stem yellow rose. Wayne Coker, cousin of the bridegroom was best man. Ushers were David and Billy Coker and Ben Crisp brother of the bride. After a wedding trip to die Smokies, the couple will make their home in BlairsvUle, Ga. Mrs. Bruce Directs Language Training First sod second grade pu pils in the Summer Reading Improvement Program, are being given Language Development training under the direction of Mrs. Margaret Bruce. In addition to the regular reading classes, they study rhyming words, creative narrative, learn to separate the real from the imaginary and word analysis. Root words are learned and new words made by pre fixes and suffices, vocabularly training, making and learning how clocks operate teaches them to tell time. Mrs. Bruce is also Speech Therapist for the school. Pu pils are tested for speech and hearing defects. Art and music are Included in the Primary grades. Tomotia Community Club To Meet The Tomotia Community Club will meet Thursday eve ning July 14, at 6:45 at the Community Building. This will be a "pot luck" supper meeting and all residents in the Tomotia Community are urged to attend. Dance Friday At Old Rock Gym A dance will be held at the Old Rock Gym in Murphy Friday evening beginning at 8 p.m..
