after a brief illness.
He was a native of Towns
County, a son of W.P. and
Mrs.Delia Nichols Nichol

and for a number of years.

an Andrews hospital Monday
April 3. after a brief illness.

bert Crain and Mrs. Bailey
Coleman, all of Murphy, Rl
3, a son, Luther Cornwell
of Murphy; nine grandchil

p.m. Wednesday in Grape
Creek Baptist Church of which
he was a member.
The Rev. A.R. Humphreys
and the Rev. Howard Killian
officiated and burial was in the
church cemetery.

astain, 91, died Saturday April
1 in Asheville at the home of
a daugbter,Mrs. Willard Ac
res, following a long illness.
Mr. Chastain was a native of
Union County, Ga., a son of the
late Ben and Margaret Neice
Chastain and a member of An
tioch Baptist Church. He was
a member of Dooley Masonic
Lodge of Blairsville, Ga. A
former Union County deputy
sheriff, he was a retired far
mer.
Other survivors include two
other daughters, Mrs. Flossie
Jones of Asheville and Mrs.
Blanche Drake of Detroit,
Mich.; three sons, Ross of
Middleton, Conn., Gus of Ak
Ohio and Wade Chastain of
Beaver Falls, N.Y.; 15
grandchildren, 15great grand
children and two great-great
grandchildren.
Services were held at 2 p.m.
Tuesday in ivy Log Baptist
Church.
The Rev. Gus Hunt and the
Rev. Don Klnnersley officaited
and burial was in the church
cemetery.

conducted graveside rites.

a Copperhill Tenn. hospital
Monday afternoon March 27
following a long illness.
He was a native of Cherokee
County and a son of the late
Dave and Zelthia SherriU
Hamby. He was a retired
merchant, veteran of World
War I and member of Plea
sant Hill Baptist Church.
Surviving are the widow,
Mrs. Alice Wilcox Hamby; a
son Arthur Hamby of Cedar
Bluff, Ala; two sisters, Mrs.
Clelie Maney and Mrs. Lula
Young, both of Farner, six

First Walhalla
Horse Show Set
Walhalla. S C.--The Band
Parents' Club ol Walhalla an
nounces its first annual Wal
halla Horse Show for Sunday,
April 23, 1967, at Curt Fow
ler's Stable. In case of rain ,
an alternate date has been set
for the following Sunday.
April 30. The show will start
at 1 in the afternoon and con
tinue throughout the day. All
proceeds are to be used to
provide new uniforms for the
Walhalla HighSchool Band.
Over J300 in prizes, plus
trophies and ribbons, will be
awarded to winners in the
fifteen classes to be shown.
Riders may enter horses in
Western Horse, Walking
Horse or Gaited Horse events.
A pony will be given away as a
door prize.
For the convenience of visi
tors, all roads entering Wal
halla will be well marked with
signs dircting contestants
and spectators to the show
site.
Contestants from South
Carolina, North Carolina,
and Georgia are expected.
The High School Band will
provide entertainment at in
termission.
