P..t^. .. *??h, Caravan To Phone Hearings Planned Byers-Green Vows Made Miss Patricia Ann Byers and Bobby Frank Green were united in Holy matrimony at 4 p.m. Saturday, June 24, at the home of Rev. Jimmy Hogs ed of Brasstown, N.C. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Betty JoBrady of Jer sery City, N.J. and Frank Byers, Jr. of Atlanta. She is a graduate of Hayesville High School. Mr. Green is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Willie Green of Brasstown. He attended Hayesville High School and is employed by Rimco Mfg. Co. The couple will make their home in Brasstown, N.C. STEVE AND MAURICE ENGLAND will compete in a state 4-H Contest ir. Raleigh during the week of July 24. The Clay County boys earned the trip to Raleigh by winning the Poultry dem onstration at Waynesville on J une 20. Three Injured Near Glade Gap Three Gastonia residents were injured Saturday morn ing when the car in which they were riding ran off the road and overturned near Glade Gap on US S4. The scene of the accident is 10 1/2 miles east of Hayesville. Highway Patrolman Patt Miller said Carey Lee Webb, 19, told him he was travelling west and was entering a left hand curve when he met a vehicle. Webb told Miller he dodged the vehicle and ran out off the right side of the road. Webb and his sister, Char lotte Webb, 21, were treated and released at Towns County hospital in Hiawassee, Ga. Another passenger, Jimmy Blair, 19, was also taken to I owns County Hospital. Miller said he was told Blair had severe cuts. The car was reported to be a total loss. Day Urges All With Complaints To Attend A carava:i of dissatisfied telephone subscribers is scheduled to depart Hayes ville ne>? Thursday, July 13, to attend hearings conducted by the State UtilitiesCommi ssion in Asheville. Tom Day of Hayesville, who has been working to secure better telephone service in southwestern North Carolina for the past seven years, says the Commission will hear testimony from this area beginning at 9 a.m. Thursday in the Federal Building in Asheville. He said the caravan will leave Hayesville at 5:45 a.m. and mtet cars from Murphy at Marble around 6:15 a.m Cars from Andrews and Robbmsville are expected to join the motorcade. Day said it is important that anyone having a complaint against Westco Telephone Co. attend the hearings and be prepared to testify. "It's now or never". Day said. He pointed out that State officials are concerned about the complaints being made in this area. He said those who have complaints must make them during this hearing if they want action. "This is the best oppor tunity we've ever had or will have" to get better phone service, Day said. He said the testimony of both business leaders and pri vate citizens should be presented at the hearing. North Carolina Assistant Attorney General George Goodwin and Asheville attorney Robert R. Williams Jr. have been meeting with people throughout western North Carolina during the past several days to hear comp laints about telephone ser vice Williams has been hired by the Attorney General's office to represnt the people at the Asheville hearings next week. Sawyer-Roland Wedding Held Mr. and Mrs. Dent Saw yer of Hayesville announce the wedding of their daugh ter, Brenda, to Kenneth Row land, son of Mrs Louise Rowland of Hiawassee, Ga. They were married June 30. Maney-Monkus Vows Made Beatrice Maney, daughter oi Mrs. /.ell Mane) oi Shoot ing Creek became the bride of Kelley Monkus, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Monkus on J ufie 9 at 7:30 at the home of the groom'; parents. The cereomony was performed by Rev. Burlin rhomason. The sister of the groom, Linda Phillips, was maid of honor. Troy Phillips, brother in law of the groom served as best man. The bride was attired in a chiffon over luxurious crepe sheat of acetate and rayon; acetate taffeta lined. The back had a bowed V-collar. The bride carried a white Bible topped with pink carnations. The bride is a graduate of Hayesville High School and the groom is a graduate of Hayesville and is employed by the Blairsville Shoe fac tory. Members of the family and -CC Those of the Dr. Fred Moss family who attended the dedi cation of Moss Memorial Lib rary June 25 were Mrs. Fred Moss and daughter, Fredricka Dr. and Mrs. James Moss and their family, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Moss Bill and Bob Moss all of Alexandria, Va. Dr. Claudine Gay and Spencer Gay of Wash ington, D.C. a few friends attended the wedding. A reception followed the ceremony at the home of the groom s par ents.
